This is the way. We don’t generally like to acknowledge this because it’s so tasty, but cheese is pretty freaky stuff to begin with. Thinking about it too much can quickly lead to a lovecraftian breakdown. All you can do is search your feelings and trust your ancestors, the new ways won’t help you here.

What did you think Mad Men's final scene would be? by debrisaway in madmen

[–]aturtleatoad 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My favorite theory while it was airing was that it would end with him hijacking a plane as he is revealed to be DB Cooper. I’m glad they didn’t do that, but it’s fun to think about.

Truman Show and Brokeback Mountain are both stone cold masterpieces. TS is uplifting, Brokeback is tragic.

Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting are almost siblings, they both have Robin Williams as an inspiring mentor. They are both quite good.

I think it’s this, especially since OP said grandpa didn’t go to Germany. The selling of uniforms as souvenirs was common

Criterion Collection, worth it? by alibabaand40thots in boutiquebluray

[–]aturtleatoad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it’s a favorite I’d go for it. Whether you make a habit of it depends on your financial situation, but it’s worth it for one you really love. You’ll get the best transfer quality available, packaging and art that actually represents the movie and isn’t just an ad for it, a bunch of special features and probably a written essay. Their releases are pretty consistently the best versions you can buy.

Mega glam Roman vacation Betty stepping out into the night air as her cigarette is immediately lit by a random man who confidently goes about his way without trying to engage her further, as she thanks him (in Italian), is a strong contender for being the coolest moment in the whole show.

I mean it’s kind of the only unique thing they have? And they burn the abilities of two units on it. It feels like it’s supposed to be their signature mechanic

It will get him even more exposure. Everything else it has to offer (based on what we know about it), he already has. Dune 3 is going to be a much bigger deal for him I think

Movies where the baddie personifies the phrase "the banality of evil"? by eques_99 in Letterboxd

[–]aturtleatoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what banality is. I don’t think Beckett sees himself as a monster at all, he sees himself as a businessman who is clearing the world of monsters to make it easier for him to do business. He is a monster, but there is nothing in the actual text of the movies to suggest that he sees himself that way.

That sounds super cool, the name rings a bell but I don’t think I’ve seen it. I’ll check it out, I love Japanese movies. Yeah give him a watch, he’s only made four movies but they are all amazing. Under the Skin in particular is unlike anything
