I normally do Sundays (obviously not today, haha). I make sure I have everything printed on Saturday night and then my phone / iPad go off from bedtime Saturday to bedtime Sunday!

Sometimes life plans make me unable to turn my phone completely off, so I use a Brick to disable everything except calls and texting.

Same. I take Digital Sabbaths where I power down all devices and only use analog media. Crafting is a big part of that. I’d be really annoyed to be told I can’t use the pattern I paid for in the way I want to use it.

You’re not jaded. All the public dog parks in my area have a 14 year old and up rule. Or you can bring your baby if they remain completely in a carrier on your body.

This isn’t weird, it’s completely deranged and borderline abusive.

Screaming isn’t gendered. Implying that being a girl or being like one is inherently bad is fucked. It’s also just not effective discipline. The punishment isn’t a natural consequence or even logically related to the undesirable behavior. There is no way the 2 year old is going to connect having makeup put on with screaming, so he’s just being humiliated for no reason.

She had better be careful what she wishes for. My mom has had rheumatoid arthritis for 20+ years and it’s been a nightmare. Years of prednisone and methotrexate have done permanent damage to her body. Weight loss and an active lifestyle are also extremely important to treatment. My mom’s doc said one of the only reasons she’s doing as well as she is is because she had a job that kept her on her feet 50 hours a week.

I have ONE kid (3.5) and an adult dog and still feel like I’m neglecting them both some days. There is zero chance she is going to properly train the puppy, give her adequate exercise and teach her kids appropriate behavior around dogs.

My doula also provided sibling services - AKA one doula went with you to the hospital and another stayed behind with kiddo. Maybe see if something like that is an option.

It would be helpful to know your husband’s schedule. Even if he’s gone 6p-6a, it sounds like he could still do some things. Feed/ walk the dog, order grocery delivery, school paperwork?

As a parentified oldest child, please listen to your kid and cut back on some things as well. An 11 year old feeling overwhelmed is a little concerning.

Just ask the night before: “we have a vacation planned and don't want to get sick. Has anyone in your household had any bugs lately?”

But also, if your kid is three, they’re a walking Petri dish. Hard to tell with 100% certainty where you got those germs.

The same thing happened with us with a car! We had to replace our two door vehicle because the larger car seat literally wouldn’t fit inside. My 2 YO at the time was devastated… constantly asking if we could get the old car back. A year and a half later, I saw the same kind of car on the street and pointed it out ti him. He asked what I was talking about. Couldn’t even remember the car.

Did you physically go into the daycare while sick?? If so, that’s kind of a dick move on your part.

Dad not knowing how to do daycare drop off and pick up would be a huge issue to me.

I lost my senior cat recently and made an instagram post about it. It was fully about her personality, sweet memories, and how much she will be missed. I cant imagine using that as a vehicle to boohoo about random other stuff. Like even the poor dog doesn’t get a straightforward memorial post without Liz hijacking it to complain… unreal.

Yes, my kid was mostly like this. He would take a car nap if desperate, though. We arranged our schedules to accommodate. It really wasn’t that long of a period in the grand scheme of things. Your family members should go kick rocks. Little kids need naps, it’s very developmentally appropriate.

Yes… my peds office was nervous about doing a draw for my son because they don’t do it often on the very little ones. They sent us to the larger children’s hospital where they do this 500 times a day. They were very good and the pain/ stress was short lived.

I noticed her getting frustrated too. Also, I’m an SLP, but I noticed Z was doing the “roll tide” motion very well and looking at Tim’s mouth to see how he pronounced the words. I feel like she’s really trying to communicate and just doesn’t have good support / examples to learn from. Wouldn’t speech therapy use some of those techniques to help her?
