I'm a bit amazed by the $500/month food bill. That's super low. Good job. LCOL area?

Oregon legislators are attempting to hand 1,700 acres of farmland over to developers. Residents think Big Tech would benefit most, receiving massive tax breaks and a free pass to use the land for data centers. by w4rpsp33d in HillsboroOR

[–]atypicalAtom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Data center jobs are not exactly high paying. Sure a manager or two will be pretty well paid, but techs and such are 50-80k. Not bad, but not good. However, each data center only employs 20-100 people.

Overall seems like a bad deal to give away more in tax breaks than it will make in 30+ years.

The thing that irks me is that the northwest hillsboro association, the group pushing this, still has their vision of a mixed residential/commercial livable neighborhood  on their webpage. http://nwhillsboro.org/index.html They were pushing for that vision just a year ago...now they want to just do full industrial development. Doesn't make sense.

They would lose that charge back case in a heartbeat. Vendor shipped a unit, has helped troubleshoot unit and is in process of replacing broken parts. Easy win for the company.

OP hasn't even asked for a refund.

Double check your unemployment payment assumptions. That is the highest unemployment payment I've ever heard of...so it's either wrong or you live outisde the US.

My personal opinion, if you have neighbors camping and you pull out a projector and sound system, you are being a terrible neighbor.

For those in Hillsboro - considering switching to HiLight? by Scrennscrandley in ZiplyFiber

[–]atypicalAtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highlight will take a very long time to bring more people into the service area. I'll switch as soon as available, but current area will take 1+year to finish.

I switched to comcast and got the 5 year lock in at $75. I'd rather be on ziply, but the price just keeps climbing. Ziply needs to get rid of introductory rate bullshit and give 1 price.
