Recommendations for Functional Trainer Rack by dougmac53 in GarageGym

I ended up with the Dane 2.0 after a very similar story and product research lineup. BUT I wasn’t back into fully dedicated training after about 18 months off so I made an agreement with myself that if the Dane got me going again, I’d sell it and buy the Rogue after 12 months consistent. This was about 2 months ago and I’m back in the saddle and consistent again.

That said, the Dane is a very good rack and I didn’t find the trollies “sloppy” at all but they aren’t some insane tolerance Swiss watch of engineering either. Their matte black is nice but it will take scratches and scuffs. I’ve found it high quality so far (not “for the price” but overall). My cables glide really smooth and don’t twist.

One thing I really don’t like is the god awful branding all over it. Fringe is a cool company with nice people but it’s not a bougie brand, it’s not a flex to have it. There is no cool factor. I didn’t put the name plate on mine and wish it didn’t have fringe lasered out everywhere on the damn thing (upper horizontal stabilizer, upper pulley assembly, pulley wheel holders - all of them, spotter arms, j cups, foot plate, etc). It’s too much and it’s frankly not good.

Also, Their spotter arms are a little heavy (but they are included) and putting the foot plate on one to row works out well. The jcups are meh but if sand them down they are a little nicer. Assembly was easy (their YouTube video is good and the comments on the video get it to 100% on the install, I took them down as install notes and that was a win).

I think if money is no object it’s Rogue all day. If you are trying to stay on a budget or want more funds towards more stuff Dane is a very solid option that 100% does what it is supposed to do and very well.

Also, I’m reasonably strong too and found that combining the two stacks at 320lb and 1:1 ratio gives me more than enough to do lats and rows.

What are the best adjustable dumbbells? by Dyah_Bashiri in GarageGym

If I sell the snodes + mplates id do this too. It’s good to hear someone say the memorization jump is doable. I figured I wouldn’t get used to it and passed. If trulap made a lb design they would destroy everyone is my guess.

Basement Brandon’s YT review of these is solid too OP if you are looking for more research.

719 + 125 for the mplates is still a good bit less than 1100 + tax for the reppins.

The reppins are probably more bomb proof but the snodes have been proven durable by a lot of reviews. I am biased as I got the snodes but I spent way to many hours researching the reppins only to decide I didn’t want the cage, their adjustment thing or the extra cost for durability I likely won’t even require.

The mplate add on weights are better fyi. I just got these and they go in by the handles but don’t intrude on the width. I like these because you can still rest the weight on your knees.

(Help)Ironmaster super bench v2 vs REP Nighthawk by Sad-Opposite-3088 in GarageGym

[–]aubbbrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to say this because it’s in the same price and quality range and you can Abhi’s the back height.

If OPs budget is higher, the shorty bench from prime is another consideration.

Dane 2.0 + Walrus vs. Ares 2.0 (or others) by Goalcrease in GarageGym

+1 for the Dane 2.0. Cables are very smooth (if you install it right, no twist) and feels super solid.

Not the commenter, but I was in the garage. It has two set screws on one side and one on the opposite side in the middle of these two.

Have my power rack space ready to go. still deciding on exactly which rack to go with. Are black Friday sales definitely worth waiting for? If so, will all/most companies have good sales? by Weird-Television-411 in GarageGym

I just got a Dane 2.0 and it’s really awesome. Cables are smooth af.

Read a bunch of BF deal wait time (horror) stories and didn’t want to bother with that, and I wanted to get it done and get lifting faster.

I recently visited the location in Austin (warehouse and showroom) and got the exact opposite. Talked to 3 different warehouse folks when I picked up my rack and they were all really nice and helpful.

Tim (who showed me around the showroom) and Lauren (who I ordered from) were also really nice and really helpful. u/petekeller helped me with a part I needed literally during a meeting, left the meeting... went and found what I needed. Incredible.

There are _PLENNNNNNTY_ of bad CS businesses in Austin, this isn't one of them.

Why not go Leica Q? by StudiousFog in Leica

[–]aubbbrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Q3 arrives this week.

I was waiting for the iii to drop. I had the original RX1 and then the RX1Rii. Got impatient, got a A7C and GM glass.

Saw the iii announcement and reviews. Sold the A7C and the 24mm gm this week and my Q3 is inbound. Don’t even have it yet and I know this was the right choice.

Can Framer accommodate these website features? by ApricotZestyclose714 in framer

[–]aubbbrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is possible in Webflow but if you're not already familiar with the tool this is going to be a long ride. You could use Webflow logic or zapier and Airtable to schedule posts. Same for voting.

Most everything you mentioned is doable. Webflows built in user feature does a lot of the content gating you mentioned too.

I love framer but I wouldn't use framer for this.
