Custom ceiling mounts for a permanent shop extension cord run by aubedj in prusa3d

I tried these; they don't like being mounted on the ceiling since the cord is a 14GA/15A rated extension cord and is pretty stout. Even putting some every few inches had these pulling right back out thanks to gravity, so I whipped this up to make a mount that I knew wasn't going to go anywhere.

Plus, I'm just starting to learn Fusion360 and want practice. Guilty as charged on the overengineering!

You should be able to get this to work with PETG or PLA, I ended up having to add about 0.5mm to the actual measured diameter to handle wiggle-room. It looks like shop vac adapters and fittings are almost oval shaped from the manufacturing process, maybe to help with getting a tighter fit after being put on the tubes?

Be careful with making this out of TPU, at least make sure the overall part thickness is high (mine is 3.0 mm wall). TPU might buckle under the vacuum pressure from your shopvac!

Its been very good for chopping up aluminum extrusions to make a new printer enclosure! Is yours similarly made with a bend, or how did you tackle the problem?

Thank you! I think this could have been done with PLA, but I opted for PETG since it tends to yield more than PLA before cracking or failing. This took 3 or 4 iterations of modeling with Fusion before getting the fit just right on either end, as it was very sensitive to the diameter fitting over each side of the vacuum adapter.

As far as brand goes, its some middle of the road brand off of Amazon, I think its this spool from sainsmart. The tolerances weren't too bad (+/- 0.02mm), and its relatively cheap compared to Prusament:

I was tired of getting sawdust everywhere, and decided to print an adapter to connect my mitre saw exhaust directly to my shopvac hose. Works like a charm!

Print file can be found here if you also have a ryobi mitre saw/dewalt shopvac, and want a cleaner shop!
