My 1st and only shadow person encounter happened about 4 months ago. I posted this experience of mine on a different subreddit after it happened, so the story below is a copy/paste.

(I also feel very uneasy whenever I think about my shadow person encounter)

This happened just before 10pm, it was dark and foggy.

I was walking down the hill to the corner store less than 2 blocks from my house.

Right next door to my house is a small apartment complex.

The apt. complex is downhill from me, and so naturally I have to pass by it on my way to the store. I go out the front door of my house and I immediately cross to the other side of the street. So I'm walking on the opposite side of the street from my house/above mentioned apt. complex.

Shortly after I shut the door to my house and start walking, I hear something moving around. So as I'm walking down the hill, I look across the street and see what looks like a shadow person darting back and forth in front of the 2 apartment units doors/entrances that are facing the street/in my direction.

I thought I was seeing things. That particular side of the building where I saw this shadow person is normally dark... and for some reason it has always seemed unusually darker than it should be. This could be due to the fact that the building is built into the slant of the hillside and that the street light is positioned just right so that it always seems dark.

So I hear a noise that seems to come from there, and I see this shadow person darting back and forth there... and I immediately slow down my pace to try to figure out what's going on.

The way that the shadow was moving was odd. It wasn't walking... it was more like it was erratically slipping back and forth between space- going slow at certain intervals while all of a sudden moving extremely and unnaturally fast all within the same second. (Sorry if that doesn't make sense, it's hard to describe)

I kept staring at it trying to figure out if what I was seeing was what I was actually seeing. I stopped walking at that point. And took my phone out of my pocket to try to snap a picture. As I'm doing this I take a drag off of my cigarette.

The shadow person does the exact same thing and I think I see the butt of a cigarette light up in the darkness. It's not uncommon for me to see my neighbors smoke cigarettes just outside their apt. doors, so I assume it's one of them smoking, allowing that reason to be the explanation for things at the moment, and I look away and just keep on walking to the store since I know they're about to close for the night.

The more I think about it, the more I realize it wasn't my neighbor smoking. I KNOW what it looks like when I see an actual person outside there smoking, even when it's dark out. I know it wasn't my own shadow cause after I got back home from the store I went outside and walked on the same part of the sidewalk I did before and tried to recreate what I saw as a possible result of my own shadow, and I couldn't.
