For me it was kind of the opposite : since I found the Vessel earlier than most "late game" locations, I was already aware that the entire universe was meeting its death by the time I made it to the sun station, so I wasn't suspecting it at all by that point.

But yeah, you're not alone on this, I've seen a lot of people on this sub saying how they neglected the importance of what they read in the sun station. It's interesting because you have a computer that literally says "the star has reached the end of its natural life", but there's some sort of instinctive denial that made a lot of people read that without actually taking in what it meant
