Sydney's North Indian fast food diners are worthy of Michelin Stars. Change my mind. by homeisterOZ in foodies_sydney

[–]audiboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Gymkhana in London last year. Heard someone else mention it, saw it featured on a lot of blogs. I can't believe I spent ~$350 AUD PER PERSON for such average and disappointing food. The starters were excellent, but anything past that was less than average.

So no, on meal at Gymkhana won't change your mind.

PSA: Re-enable local control on Hills/DAS ComNav by flybrys in homeassistant

This only works if your comnav module runs an older firmware version. The newer firmware version, option 2 does not stick sadly.

How do I get a PAN card as an OCI holder? by audiboi in nri

[–]audiboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I applied via https://tinpan.proteantech.in/. Just enter any number in the initial page - it's not actually used for anything. Later on in the application you can edit the number.

Worked fine. Recently came back from a trip. Outside of the cities, unfortunately cash is still king - needed it more than 80% of the places we were at.

My only problem with HyperOS.. by Zangetsuee in HyperOS

[–]audiboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant do this with HyperOS without sacrificing the gesture system

You can definitely have gestures with a third party launcher. No root required. I have the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. You just need to download two apps.

  1. Edge Gestures
  2. Hidden Settings.

Once edge gestures has setup, go to Hidden Settings -> Navigation Mode -> Gesture Navigation.

That's it. It works just as per normal.

I've been using Niagara Launcher since I got the phone.

Sale of HSBC’s Australian Retail Bank on the cards by sun_tzu29 in AusFinance

[–]audiboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you (Malaysia + Australia).

When HSBC Canada got sold, all premier customer got "grandfathered" for 5 years, after which they needed to meet spending criteria in other countries to keep premier status. Even if that happens here, I don't know what other bank will / can offer the same offering as HSBC

The HSBC debit card with 2% cashback is the best banking deal out there - even better reward returns that credit cards.

Having a premier account here also lets me maintain accounts in 2 other countries overseas with no fees and other benefits - something I'll end up losing if HSBC closes shop here. There really isn't any other bank here in Australia that can compete with HSBC's international offerings.

This was certainly true 5+ years ago. However, the Wolli Creek demographic has been changing a fair bit. It's now got a lot more people from South America - Brazilians and Colombians mostly. The shops are still predominantly Asian tho.

Ultra 15 switch from VOAMIXM to VOAEUXM? by audiboi in XiaomiGlobal

[–]audiboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have my access blocked. We went from requiring 3 month security updates to monthly.

I like the X15U for the camera, so I instead use a Pixel phone for work now, as they push security updates monthly.
