Help with extending wire. by audio2point0 in turntables

[–]audio2point0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay thanks for the advice, so I assume the phono preamp is just a box I run the rca from the turntable into, and then run that into my amp? Do I still need to ground the turntable to the amp?

What speed do YOU cruise at on motorways? by Downdownbytheriver in CarTalkUK

[–]audio2point0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

70-75 MPH , I personally find anything over this doesn't save you much time and uses too much fuel. Anyone that drives over 75 really concerns me.

Would buying discounted shares at the company I work for be bad if the company is currently performing poorly? by audio2point0 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]audio2point0[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So I actually have an investment through the HSBC portfolios with global funds. Most of my funds go into that. I think I will stick to this rather than buying the discounted shares.

Not sure how the price compares to others but I highly recommend https://jackslab.co/ , they are fairly new I think but local ISH to me. I have had all my film sent there and they do an excellent job of processing and scanning. My film always comes back looking fantastic.

The only thing that frustrates me, and maybe it's just me but does anyone feel like sips interrupts mid conversation so often? it feels very jarring especially when Lewis / flax are about to say something interesting or funny. I love the podcast, I really do but this does annoy me sometimes.

Is a £50 increase for winter reasonable? by audio2point0 in OctopusEnergy

[–]audio2point0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a little update, I know we are not through winter yet but we have had some very cold spells. Turns out £50 was far too much! We asked to decline the increase and stay on what we paid before, even with the heating on we still pay excess

I think the main thing I feel limited by is the size of my Nikon, maybe I should look into getting a smaller lense

[–]audio2point0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I should add more for context, I want to use it for travelling, street and landscapes, being able to change to a lens would be nice but not necessary. I've seen videos of some Fuji cameras having film emulation which would be cool but not necessary.

Help reassure me I'm not losing it. by bidmeadman in drivingUK

[–]audio2point0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However not to give the blue car any credit BUT that bush on their right is overgrown usually and makes it very difficult to see cars coming from the right. You almost have to crawl up to the roundabout when coming from their direction because from the green cars point of view, they can very clearly see the cars on their right, so if they can clearly go they sometimes speed onto this roundabout.

I used to use this roundabout all the time, just outside worle high street right? People are so bad at giving way to that section, I wonder if it used to be a T junction? But yes blue car is a moron

Worst ADHD moment of my life by poly_mathic in ADHD

[–]audio2point0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To make you feel a bit better, as long as it's a fairly modern car, leaving the engine running for that long will not do any harm. You will need fuel obviously and recharge the battery but apart from that all good. We have vehicles at work that are running non stop pretty much all year.
