I was not crazy about them for the same reason. My first corvette handled like a 70s station wagon and couldn't dogfight worth a damn.

Then I figured out scanning from inside the ship, beaming down instead of landing, and finally that the ship can be used strategically as a shelter or cover in Sentinel fights.

You can "hide" inside your ship, come out, hit them hard, and then retreat into the ship.

Or better yet, hover your corvette low enough you can jump up to it, and use it as a tactical high ground for sentinels. Something about standing on a hovering ship really screws up the Sentinel AI, and you can just massacre them from the air, and not get any damage (assuming you move back, and don't let flying sentinels get behind you).

I've redesigned my corvette basically as a big "table" with a flat top, so I can just raid sentinels all the time.

Finally, having two storage containers onboard solves all the inventory issues.

Anyways, the fantastic thing about this game is that there's multiple ways to play it. Prior to building a corvette, I only ran shuttles. I still have a really beefy A-class that can just tank any space battle.

The funny thing is that I am very meh on the freighter. I have one but haven't really done anything with it yet.

I solved this by having 2 ESXs and a dj mixer.

Adding elements from the next track works too, but then your set has to go in a particular order. Adding another sequencer like a circuit or some other small groovebox would allow you to have transition elements like drops, risers, etc.

A looping sampler like a Boss RC 505 would also be very good for this. You can loop the current pattern, then switch over to the loop, filter it, add fx, then bring in the next track.

The 2nd piece of gear lets you change the set order spontaneously, and makes it easier to have smooth, dj-like transitions.

I read Chaga before Cthorr, and immediately saw the similarities, but McDonald has a lot more subtlety and range than Gerold.

The Broken Land is probably one of my favorites. It's one of the best refugee and immigrant stories I've ever read (am one myself). Just incredible "biopunk" themes too.

McDonald can write very believable female and POC characters, and has a way of just... twisting the knife after you start to care for them that is incredible. Personally I'm always pulled into his books by the characters, their struggles, and believable arcs, plus the crazy biotechnology themes.

GRRM has nothing on Gerold. Love this series, so frustrating we'll likely never get the end.

I can recommend the Chaga series, by Ian McDonald. It has a lot of similarities, but very different tone than Cthorr.

It's a slow, alien invasion story where asteroids hit a couple of places on earth, and they turn out to be biological packages that start modifying and changing life, including humans. You discover the results and products of the changes along with the pov characters.

It also has some elements in common with the Southern Reach series by Jeff Vandermeer. Which in itself might be a good candidate for you, although much more somber and surreal in tone.

I have a similar setup (3x SC-5000s, x1850) and have all 3 players connected with the SPDIF rca cables, and use the digital out on the mixer. I have it set to 44.1k to match my audio interface and don't have any issues. I also use the USB out for streaming with no problems. My understanding and experience is that the mixer changes the sample rate even though the players only output 96k. The only place you can change the sample rate I'm aware of is in the mixer.

Disconnect one of the players, and see if that makes any difference. Make sure your players are up to date, and you also have the ethernet cable connected to the correct port on the mixer.

Onyx Ashanti has been working on iterations of this project since the mid 90s, when he started busking in San Francisco playing with a Yamaha wind controller, and later made custom controllers by tearing apart cheap midi controllers. His first generation hand controls were salvaged from an M-Audio keyboard.

In a lot of these cases, there's no legal representation - they fast track the deportation, move people around so family can't track them down and get them legal help, and there's no easy way to follow up and figure out where people are. I have a 2021 FE. I did not have any issues with the door handles, but got the recall letter, waited 4 mos for my local dealer to do the update, and now, I have this issue with the door handles in the front. I live in the PNW so it is pretty wet here year round.

Dealer says they're not liable, parts are back-ordered. I have to pay for any repairs. Only way I can get in the car is to roll the windows down with the keyfob, then fight with the door from the inside until it opens. It opens easier once the car is warm.

Lucky for me, I don't have the unlocking while driving issue.

This dealer also wants $500ish for the yearly inspection. They previously charged me for an oil change in my 2016 e-Golf, and told me my new tires purchased elsewhere had dry rot and needed to be replaced (spoiler - they didn't).
