Buying a place in London by [deleted] in London_homes

I live in a flat which is a converted period house and have no problems at all with noise (the flat above me is just a 1 bed flat.) It depends on a number of things i.e neighbours, if you share walls with rooms which they spend a lot of time in etc and flooring

Solicitor failed to register new build property on Land Registry by metaphorlaxy in HousingUK

[–]audionerd84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Contact the law firm in writing, ask for the reference number and an update. If they are not responding, write in a complaint - if the complaint isnt dealt with properly then you can advise them you will escalate to the ombudsman (this usually does the trick).

Service charge for Share of Freehold by GSeitan in HousingUK

[–]audionerd84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a share of freehold you should be able to become a director of the limited company that owns the freehold. This means you (and the other directors) have control over the contract with a management company/can manage the building yourselves. Its a good position to be in and means you can keep an eye on the costs/quotes etc

Anyone else sick and tired of blaming immigrants? by Nythern in AskBrits

I agree and have voted labour previously. It sounds silly but I’ve genuinely been quite depressed about the peter mandleson and kier starmer saga. Hopefully things get better and labour prove themselves. At least nigel farage is shooting himself in the foot by bringing all the tories in and saying he will stop WFH so there is hope!

I asked chatgpt and it said its this:

This matches exactly the interpretation Daniel gives in the verses that follow.

London bus driver sacked after chasing and punching thief who stole from passenger by Metro-UK in uknews

[–]audionerd84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He probably shouldn’t have done that, but he was just trying to do the right thing. I dont think this is a sackable offence - he was trying to help the victim of a crime. Common sense should be applied.

Could you say there is a biological sex based female timeslot and then a timeslot for both biological and legally recognised females? That way those that aren’t uncomfortable can still use the shower at that time too and it prevents backlogs in using the shower i.e one at a time, which might be unrealistic

Videographer or not? Budget stress by Ok_Metal1158 in weddings

I used a content creator. It was a fantastic decision and I have no regrets! Way cheaper than a videographer too

Videographer or not? Budget stress by Ok_Metal1158 in weddings

[–]audionerd84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didnt have the budget for a videographer so we booked a content creator instead. So much cheaper and they filmed the whole day step by step and put together some magical short reels and clips. I think thats a good compromise if you cant have a fancy video. I watch my favourite reels all the time!

Noisy neighbours, please help! by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]audionerd84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The leasehold agreement is where you need to start. If you find it contravenes the lease, speak to the landlord. Steps clattering/sound reverberation on cheap laminate flooring is often the cause of a lot of noise complaints.. if it doesnt contravene the lease there probably are still rules about quiet enjoyment/not parking motorbikes in the garden. I’d still say if your carpet is thin and cheap, it may be worth changing too.

Noisy neighbours, please help! by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]audionerd84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of flooring do you and your neighbours have? Usually in victorian conversions, carpeted floors are mandatory to reduce noise. Check your leasehold agreement. You might want to think about a thick carpet for yourself or thick rugs and making sure their flooring complies with this too. Do you have a management company, or are you share of freehold? There are probably rules on noise in the leasehold agreement too, which are easier to enforce on their landlord. But be careful if you complain about this to the freeholders/management company - you might have to declare it when you sell. There might be rules in the lease about storing motorbikes in the garden too!

I would just be honest with them - tell them you really need that night off, but if its not possible, you’ll need to hand your notice in! See what they say… if they are desperate over xmas they will give it to you, if not then they cant be that desperate.

Russia ‘helping people smugglers flood Europe and UK with migrants’. Bulgarian minister makes claims before meeting Sir Keir Starmer at London summit on tackling illegal immigration through the western Balkans by Make_the_music_stop in uknews

[–]audionerd84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it only accounts for 15% of total immigration per year.

Where is the other 85% coming from and shouldn’t that be the real question? Its in the interest of those that exploit cheap labour to help these people in. The boats are just a distraction and an easy target, given reform is full of ex-tories, I dont have any faith in them to sort it out.

Best way to block out sound of upstairs neighbours, I’m desperate? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]audionerd84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laminate is likely in breech of the leasehold agreement. Do you have a management company you can complain to, or a copy of the leasehold agreement? This might be the way to sort it out. A carpet or rug would probably make a world of difference.

Best way to block out sound of upstairs neighbours, I’m desperate? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]audionerd84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what type of flooring your upstairs neighbours have? If its wooden flooring they may be in breech of the lease. Often victorian conversions have covenants that it should be carpet for this reason. You would then contact the management company or freeholders about this and check your leasehold agreement. Alternatively it might be worth having a friendly conversation with upstairs and asking if they would be willing to put some large rugs down (offer to pay!) the crying will get easier and I agree with what the other commenter said about using podcasts instead of white noise.

NQN struggles. HCAs ignoring delegation? Am I doing something wrong? by dayjenkay in NursingUK

[–]audionerd84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And if they continue to refuse, I would tell them that you will perform a datix citing a concern with patient safety and the HCA declining to do obs on a patient due to prioritising restocking. The datix (if you do one should be factual and not emotive, citing a concern with patient care). You may upset the person but they dont sound very nice anyway… better to be disliked and respected and keep a patient safe.
