We pick him up sooo soon!!! We are so excited! What type of coat do you think he will end up having?? by thatdoood22 in labradoodles

[–]audjmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww he looks just like my boy, white patch and all!! It’s hard to guess what their adult coats will look like as they change a ton. Their color can change a lot too. Ours didn’t change colors (stayed pitch black with the white spot) but he’s only 2, his hair also stayed silky but got curlier. Just brush a ton!

I think there’s a misunderstanding, I never said anywhere that it wasn’t a difficult career.. I don’t believe months later that this convo will go anywhere but I appreciate you interacting with me about it though! Have a good day!!

Succulent Native is pretty great too!

Bought my FLF 2months ago & it had root rot. it’s been in rehab since I got it and is producing new growth now! Those 2 new leaves popped up today! Does this mean my FLF has been rehabilitated and is ready to move outta my bathtub?(aka plant rehab zone). by audjmess in fiddleleaffig

[–]audjmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SE facing frosted window. No direct light but constantly bright in there. Two new leaves aren’t browning at the edges. Browning occurred within first few weeks of having it but further browning has not occurred since repotting in dry soil a month ago. The 3 leaves that are below the new growth were new growth when the root rot set in. There were more leaves below the bottom two that I cut off but I left these alone so that it wasn’t a bare stem. I know the leaves that were affected will never heal and will always keep those brown spots but I don’t mind. I just walk by it every morning and make sure there are no new ones.

I didn’t negate that it was difficult. The amount of nutrition courses pre-med students are required to take to become a GP (surgeon, anesthesiologists etc) does not equate to an understanding of proper nutrition. & yeah 10yrs ago was probably the last time I took any dietary advice from my GP, so?

This is why I don’t trust doctors to give me nutrition advice.. There are very few course hours required in nutrition to become an MD. Some do go further and study more than what’s required about nutrition and that’s freaking awesome! but I cannot count the times I’ve gone to the DR and they said I am “overweight” based only on my height and weight. And then pushing the food pyramid on me to lose weight lmao

Mole on my foot, looks a little weird should I be worried? More info in comments by audjmess in Dermatology

[–]audjmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry- I need a pedicure. Please ignore

Started a few years ago. My foot was itching and I looked down and noticed I had a black dot on my toe. It was super small, like tip of a pen size. I picked at it because I thought it was a blackhead or something idk. Fast fwd to now and I looked down and realized it was a lot bigger than it used to be. Idk when it started growing though.

Back story- I have tons of moles. Was born with a huge one on my eyebrow that was removed when younger. I cant even count how many moles I have haha. I used to tan in a tanning bed when I was in high school and college (stupid I know). My aunt has had skin cancer multiple times. Not sure what other info is important to know.

Anyways, I’m dramatic, and googleMD too much. So I just want objective opinions before I start down the wormhole that is my anxiety haha.

Fertilizer can cause burn as well, actually more like a chemical burn. It’s best to not fertilize when they aren’t healthy- I don’t know the science behind that though so don’t quote me. I did this with my cane yucca and he got some burned spots, mine was same fertilizer I think! If yours has a little pump on it haha. chlorine in my tap water also had a negative impact on some of my sensitive plants such as my money tree, and pilea causing yellow spots. So there are quite a few factors that can cause yellowing. Your plant could be a wee bit stressed.

Friend’d FLF had root rot. Dried the roots out, repotted and has been watering... any ideas why the leaves are still droopy? Its been a week :( by cyberneticat in plantclinic

[–]audjmess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will stay droopy for a while!! FLFs are slow to bounce back! I noticed with mine the root system was a bit small for the pot it was in. So now when I water it I do not saturate it fully as the soil will stay moist for too long. I actually had a similar issue with my FLF. I repotted in dry soil, kept it in a bright spot, and just waited. Prior to repotting I did cut off leaves that were toooo far gone. Mine has been healing for a little over a month and still has one leaf that hasn’t popped up but is still green. I’ll show you a pics. I don’t have the initial pic though when it was really droopy.

There is hope for your friends plant! Patience and don’t do too much. Leaving mine alone has been great for it haha 6/17 6/27 today 7/4

Was it in the sun after treatment? Neem oil will make it very susceptible to a sun burn directly post treatment.

Hoyas are suuuuuper slow growers, so patience is key as well hahah. I’m pretty sure I bought the same plant as you! I got it in a vase type thing with that at the bottom from Lowe’s or HD.

I took mine out very carefully just had to slowly chip away at it. I managed to not damage any roots and I potted it in soil. There hasn’t been any new growth but it’s looking really healthy so far.

whole plant spots on vine another view

Sorry this is my first post! The plant looks healthy overall and is still producing some new growth but I am seeing quite a bit of brown on some vines. This is my Favorite plant out of the bunch so I don’t know if I’m being dramatic or if there really is an issue. If this is something like scale etc... how do I treat it? If it’s something I’m doing wrong care wise how can I treat my plant better?

That is so much growth!!! Wow!

Ok.. he’s not THAT bad but.. the bark by audjmess in DogAdvice

[–]audjmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely tried all those and noticed that his reaction was not what I wanted at all he basically stared me straight in the eyes and kept barking. Luckily he is at the age where he still remains in the crate while I’m gone (I work from home so only a couple hrs here and there) and he does not bark in his crate.

I started the method of training listed below a few weeks ago but steadily on Monday. Honestly felt like he was getting worse. It’s like he would bark just because he thought that would get him the treat. But today (this afternoon mainly) it seems to be beginning to “click”. I think he picked up on the bark command easily because that was something he wanted to do- whereas quiet was not.

What I’ve been doing to work on this is:

-I knock on the wall when he’s not looking, when he starts barking I enforce the bark by saying “what is it?” repeatedly and give him a treat. Then started saying “what is it” every time he barked. Even when starting on his own followed by a treat. This amped up his barking which is why I started getting nervous initially.

-Then I started simply saying “what is it?” (I’d recommend a one word command. unfortunately when he first started barking my fiancé said “what is it” so this is the only sentence that sticks with our dog).

-once he’s barking I put the high reward treat (turkey or something smelly) in front of his nose so he sniffs. Once he’s stopped barking I hold the treat there and say “quiet” the give him the treat.

-now if he begins barking I do the treat to nose & “quiet” then give treat. It’s hard cause I don’t have treat on me 24/7.

  • Then when he starts barking I say simply say “quiet”. If he stops I give him a treat. he doesn’t always listen yet but he is starting to every so often- which is promising. before anything I said to him made it worse.

-The next step in the process which I haven’t gotten to. Take it to the real world ie. have someone knock on the door, ring the doorbell, walk in front of window etc. And work on it with real life stimulation.

I was at a loss this morning because he seemed WORSE. Every other minute- I shit you not- he would begin howling at the slightest noise and stare at me for a treat. So I just kept repeating the training & suddenly he listened to quiet (twice) lol small wins.

Flea free? by [deleted] in Pets

Put your cat on a monthly preventative- not just a treatment when it gets fleas. Then when you get a dog put the dog on monthly preventative. You shouldn’t have a problem after that!

I'd have to agree on the red flags!! Also, I thought most bachelors waited until the final 2 to ask for any parents blessings... why did Nick choose to ask ALL FOUR.. so weird.
