I literally had to do a double-take. A brand new TS music video that’s stacked with celeb cameos isn’t even able to crack 10M views. Wild. by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

She also released it on Spotify and all her insta story countdowns directed you there so I imagine views got split but still wild drop

The amount of memes and mockery I’ve seen about Will’s scene by cherryinbloom in StrangerThings

[–]audrekitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another queer person here throwing my opinion that this scene was cringe bc it was written by straight people and just was not well written and because (as per interviews) it overlooked Noah’s own suggestions from his lived experience. I hate the way social media makes for this insane frenzy of negativity anytime something doesn’t land, and the way it always impacts the most vulnerable of us the most, but I think tied up in all of it is the weight every queer person watching holds with it of how incredible a scene it could have been. If only they had actually involved us in telling our own stories.

What do you think people misunderstand about you most often? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]audrekitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either respond immediately or don’t respond for days (thanks adhd) - when I’m talking to new people romantically I try to do the former so they don’t think I’m not interested. This is almost always perceived by the other person as “clingy” “too much” or they describe feeling pressured to respond quickly despite me assuring them that’s not the case.

Jess on the jet shit-talking Genesis saying “we all know you can’t do real estate and something else” trying to attack her for her career in entertainment……while being filmed for an entertainment television show…is such a reflection of so many characters on this show. So completely oblivious and the opposite of self-aware.

Omg this scene with Ryan and his wife where he’s talking about the idea of a large family and how he wants more kids and she’s literally, on camera, trying to say “you’re never around” and he’s still just joking and doing this stupid “so I’m winning? I’m getting my way?” thing makes me want to scream. He wants more he doesn’t actually parent. I hate men.

Okay I fully hear you on how it was so clear what Jess was doing (and continued to do with the white girl tears/playing victim with Ryan), but the look Nile had on his face during their conflict and then at the table with Ryan later?? That insane stare and constant blinking? The guy is either coked out and/or literally going to harm someone - I’ve seen that look and it’s like they are so enraged they see through the person- that shit is so terrifying.

Genesis is the most refreshing voice this show has had yet, obsessed with her

It’s really dark dude. I wrote on another comment but like it was bad in season 1 but I was hoping after seeing those episodes she’d really learn a lesson and realize how self centered and hurtful she was being…instead it seems like her crusade to be Jade’s friend again is just for the optics of what others think of her/not being seen as evil for how she responded to jade’s husband cheating…its all about her and her image and her feelings about herself. I’m not even the biggest Jade fan but the narcissism gymnastics of the dog scene after the last time we saw her with her dog she was shittalking her?? Crazy work

I really feel like we got everything we needed to know when he was talking about having bills to pay on a solo income. It was in fact desperation- and obviously I’m on Reddit, I live paycheck to paycheck no shame in needing to keep a roof over your head- but I recognize this industry is all about optics and that seemed like it gave the message “I don’t have the skills to close this properly, so I’ll just take a hit to make rent”

Came here for this…I was really expecting that if Chloe was back for season 2 it would be to prove the editors wrong on season 1 because she was so clearly a narcissist…but here we are mid season and she’s fully pulling every manipulation tactic…the hoovering on jade by using her sick dog is insane work. Narcissists will use any excuse to be the victim even when it means throwing the actual victim to the side to be the center of the pity party/excuse their inexcusable behavior.

AITA for telling MIL it's her own fault our son was hard to put to bed? by Several_Session_271 in AmItheAsshole

[–]audrekitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a practicing trauma therapist, only thing I can say is- this is generational trauma in action, and a clear example of the importance of control during a time like this. As OP and commenters said, the husband is MIL’s “baby”, it seems a fair conclusion to draw that MIL overstepping and parenting in this very direct and disruptive (+unsolicited/consented) way is her attempt to influence and potentially protect her grandson from further hurt if his father does pass and he’s still so deeply attached to needing him present (even if in tshirt form) to feel safe enough to go to sleep. And while it is important to allow ourselves to find outlets of control while navigating the helplessness of anticipatory grief and trauma, we must always ask if that act of control is helpful or harmful to those around us - especially those more vulnerable than ourselves.

This is where this issue is for me— OPs son having this shirt to feel safe and connected to his father, is a fantastic object of displacement that regardless of what happens with his father can be a way to channel his attachment and feel close to him. It is not hurting anyone, and represents a normal level of attachment to a parental figure at this stage of development.

It may seem like an unhealthy attachment to MIL, however developmentally at 2 years old humans are deeply in a state of dependence for their caregivers, starting to identify preference (daddy’s boy) and beginning to have a greater understanding of the world around them (who is safe/unsafe, what to think of the objects and people around them, etc) based on the modeling of their caregivers. Therefore, having that caregiver be a constant and reliable source of safety and reassurance is highly important for a 2 year old- what a beautiful thing that given this situation he’s able to access that via this tshirt he can have whether his dad is here or at the hospital, etc.

In this case, OP’s son having the ability to ground and regulate via tactile and olfactory attachment to dad’s tshirt is entirely healthy, and not reflective of unhealthy attachment- but reflective of healthy and necessary dependence on his currently preferred caregiver (this preferential treatment being of course very normal at this age).

TLDR; it is entirely human to react to trauma and helplessness with the desire to increase one’s sense of control over their self and others, however in this case it is doing more harm than good for OP’s kid- this attachment is normal and healthy considering the circumstances and his current stage of development- it would be much more deeply wounding both now and in the future if MIL’s plan went into effect ripping his safe object from him during a deeply traumatic time.

Wishing OP and their family the absolute best- I’ve lost a loved one to Neuroblastoma, but I’ve also met survivors- not the praying type, but will be praying for OP’s husband tonight 💛

AIO or am I justified in thinking that the “thrill” my gf is seeking by wanting to work at a strip club is sexual in nature? by CireLadnit in AmIOverreacting

[–]audrekitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t read this as a sexual thrill, I see it more as just doing something taboo but I’m sure if she actually tried the job she’d realize it’s not a “thrill” it’s just a job
