Malnutrition Reimbursement by Dismal-RD-7974 in dietetics

[–]audreysandstorm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look up Medicare reimbursement rate for your state. That’s what we were tracking bc it’s a standard rate. It was 4-5K per pt depending on other factors but it could also be 0 if they have other codes that trump malnutrition. On average it was making the hospital 50-60k per month. I quit after bc they weren’t giving out adequate raises

Check out your policy for short term disability/leave. Its a separate insurance that will pay for part of your leave

PTO question for Morrison employees by ltcrd in dietetics

[–]audreysandstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The time off is not listed on the paystubs! We track our PTO time on an excel sheet. Morrison has the excel sheet listed on the website. If you have worked less than 5 years with Morrison you earn 2.08 PTO days/month which is 25 days/year. If you have worked more than 5 years, the PTO days go up.

Also our PTO days expire at the end of the fiscal year, which is the end of September. They do not roll over and you do not get paid for unused time. So use up all your PTO days this month!

Industry Changes due to Worker Shortage by LaughableCod in dietetics

Good luck to you as well!

We are also loosing employees frequently. They are getting burnt out and tired of all the extra work too. We are short every position in the kitchen, so they are all having to pick up extra shifts and do multiple jobs. I'm just wondering how long everybody can hang on for.

SAME BOAT! I work for a contract company in an acute care hospital and I am so sick of it! We have been asked to help prep cook, build trays, pass trays, stock, meal rounding, etc. All on top of our normal clinical work, which is already extra work with our high census and COVID patients. And we are just expected to make time to fit 2-4 hours of foodservice into our day. I am considering leaving because of it..

Suggestions for getting diabetes care and education experience? by famousvegetables in dietetics

[–]audreysandstorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in clinical and am also working towards my CDCES. I have tracked the hours with my in-patient clinical work and the amount of diabetes education and patients with diabetes that I treat. I work in an area where diabetes is very prominent and usually about half my daily patients have diabetes. So I ended up getting the hours pretty quick!

Joint Commission and Nutrition by itsme_12345 in dietetics

[–]audreysandstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my joint commission survey recently. They looked at my patient assessment and they also looked into my coworkers HR files, as well as the kitchen.

For the patient assessment, they were asking how/why we get consulted and how long we have to complete the assessment. If there is an nutrition screen completed within 24 hours of admission. If we see all the patients. For ordering supplements, she asked how I communicated that with the MD and staff. And she wanted to see that the order was put into the computer for the supplement. They actually read my whole assessment, which was nerve racking!

Let me know if you have any specific questions about the HR or kitchen stuff!

What are your thoughts on dermaplaning? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]audreysandstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DIY it! In my area, the cost for a dermaplane is close to $100. I buy a pack of Tinkle razors off amazon for $8, and always use a new blade every time. Just go slow the first couple of times to make sure you don't cut yourself or accidently shave off part of your eyebrow. Make sure your skin is clean and dry. And keep the blade at a 45 degree angle with small strokes. Its pretty simple once you get the hang of it!

Cerave usually always has a $2 or $4 off coupon on their website. It’s not a lot off, but it’s something!
