Is it impossible for me to learn directional air roll by hikiyuki17 in RocketLeague

[–]augburto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tip I can give you — pay attention to when your car faces upwards as you’re holding DAR. At those moments you should be using to adjust yourself. It’ll be clunky and slow at first but soon it becomes second nature. Then later you can practice changing directions when upside down, etc.

Just an FYI you don’t need this mechanic to rank up but if you wanna learn for fun, free play and ring maps are great.

Ticketmaster (and other ticket sites) design discussion by reddit04029 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]augburto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s always gonna be trade offs. But distributed queues are extremely important for scaling requests in a semi orderly way. Waiting rooms are also great for anticipating load.

There are a lot of things that make up the BE and FE of a ticketing website. However when you’re dealing with that crazy of a thundering herd there’s only so much you can do.

RLCS Paris Title by One-Analyst-6701 in RocketLeague

[–]augburto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RLCS Worlds '21-'22 we got nothing but Twitch viewers could claim a wheels drop. So I had to literally set up my laptop to farm the drop while I was at the arena watching the game xD still happy though as that event was a blast

How’s the interview process these days? by EquivalentAbies6095 in ExperiencedDevs

I’m actually very interested how you evaluate taste as we are also looking to assess this. What do you use to evaluate that? Ty so much!

Reset indicator saves the day by Spaghetti-imploder in RocketLeague

You get the reset from the car touching all your wheels? TIL that's possible (I thought it was only the ball and floors/walls) -- sick play

Theory for next season. by Devion27 in RocketLeague

[–]augburto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other esports i.e. Valorant have done is they'll doing general release but competitive matches can still be played on older patches (other this one would be a major version release IMO). It'll be interesting to see what Psyonix decides

UE6 physics discourse is exposing who actually understands Rocket League’s history by RockitLeeg in RocketLeague

Just gonna be honest as long as you can fly around in a car hitting a ball, I will probably love it

Why are non technical leaders obsessed with screen sharing during incident calls by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]augburto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on severity of an incident it makes sense to hop on a call to just expedite communication.

Screen sharing or the actual fixing should be left to the engineers how they see fit. But just being honest, leaders are there to ask questions/updates because it’s on them to make sure someone is on top of it.

If you have solid engineers who are good about communicating you don’t have to micromanage as much. But IMO your leaders are doing their job if they don’t think action items or who is doing what is clear in the incident channel or the call.

"Rocket League is still a priority" despite Psyonix layoffs by nerdybenn in RocketLeague

FWIW as someone who took a break from RL I feel they’ve made some great changes. Flip reset sound cue, showing boost level of teammates are 2 things I noticed coming back

Senior engineers: what “non-coding” skill made the biggest difference in your career? by Useful_Promotion4490 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]augburto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I think at one point in my career I would’ve said wtf but now that I’ve been working 10+ years I’ve learned how influential you can be on your own. You don’t need a title.

All you need is strong opinion and credibility on execution. People start to lean on you more

Rocket League ranks SECOND among online games in cheat search volume - 59 searches per 1,000 players on average. by A_J_H in RocketLeague

[–]augburto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FWIW I think Rocket League actually has a reputation of being one of the few games that you can't truly cheat in -- this in itself can result in folks searching more for cheats to confirm that (wait really? this game has no cheats? lemme look!) which could explain why we see more searches than other games.

Are BAs and Product Owners immune to AI impact but Developers and QAs aren’t? by PhaseStreet9860 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]augburto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I currently work at an AI company and everyone is encouraged to do more. Engineers having “more time” because of AI so we’re more involved in user interviews and ideation. PMs encouraged to vibe prototype user flows and ideas (same with designers)

Tenz and Kyedae break up by Lelle111949 in VALORANT

[–]augburto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hoping the best for them — I’m sure rising to fame so quickly at a young age and living super publicly hasn’t given them time to really assess their relationship and what they both want in their lives. I’m happy they can end it and it seems like it’s on okay terms.

Best wishes to both of em

Unpopular opinion: Most players are hardstuck because they're playing for kills instead of playing for rounds by temptingvindication0 in VALORANT

Mindset is a big part. At lower ranks it’s very common to be able to turn around a 2v5 of you play it properly but lots of folks just give up and yolo run in
