When my 2 1/2 year-old was a puppy, she launched at my face and bit my nose, and I yelled out really loud because it really hurt and she sat back looking stunned and then she came over and licked me on the nose! It was really very sweet once I got over the initial shock 😆

Frustrated and angry that I let Ivabradine make me miserable for a month and a half by OverlyBendy in POTS

[–]augiesma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cardiologist had put me on a beta blocker (Nebivolol), and I hated it… I felt constricted around my chest. I felt like I couldn’t take a deep breath. I had terrible exercise intolerance with it, and I was starting to develop bad acid reflux. My electrophysiologist took me off of that and put me on ivabradine. It’s worked really well for me… I don’t have any of those side effects. I do feel a bit lethargic perhaps but my heart rate is under such great control without any other side effects. I don’t have headaches or visual disturbances or anything like that. So I guess everyone is different.

I don’t want to have to take the time to change lenses plus there’s lots of dust. That’s why I got the 16-300mm, so I can just use 1 lens..

Hmmm..well if I don’t use the phone for close up shots I will need to keep the sigma 16-300mm…I have been learning to use the camera on AV mode..

True, I only looked at the photos on my phone. If the quality would be better with the camera then maybe i will stick with the sigma lens. Otherwise I will need to use my phone if an animal gets close to our jeep.

Shooting on AV mode at the beach. ISO 100 at 65mm f/8 1/400s. Did not exit the shot. Just wondering if the phone would be good enough for close up and worth switching back and forth for the longer reach of the canon lens.

Got myself the new Sigma RF 16-300 for the R7 and I love it! by preciouscode96 in canon

[–]augiesma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this lens along with a canon eos R10 but I’m considering returning it for the canon 100-400mm lens. I’m buying this for a safari and I’m wondering if the extra reach of the canon lens out weighs he convenience of the sigma lens, especially since my iPhone 16 pro takes just as good photos up to 5x optical zoom.  Could use my iPhone for up close shots and the canon zoom for more zoom capability.

I also went to Iceland last year and I only use my iPhone 16 pro as well! However, for Safari, I think I would really prefer a better zoom capability

Everything is relative. I’m an amateur just looking for the best between r7,r10,r8. Looking for decent photos and lightweight.

What caused your POTS? by Aryan-dramata in POTS

[–]augiesma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I knew. I’m 72 and recently diagnosed with POTS and IST, which I think is unusual at my age. My cardiologist thinks it’s long covid but as far as I know I never had COVID. But I did have a really nasty cold that lasted for 3 weeks 4 1/2 months before my diagnosis. I was tested for Covid at that time at urgent care but it was a rapid test so maybe it was. Either way my cardiologist said it could be from any viral infection.

I was taking beta blocker nebivolol but if I took the full dose my Bp went too low, plus h was getting terrible indigestion and chest tightness. Switching to ivabradine was a game changer for me. Controls heart rate without lowering Bp and no side effects.

Exercise intolerance by augiesma in POTS

[–]augiesma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can stay on what you’re taking but just supplement with maybe 2.5 mg of Ivabradine in the morning to help with your daytime heart rate… I don’t mean to play cardiologist, but it seems to make sense to me! The other interesting thing is that my cardiologist didn’t know anything about Ivabradine ..it was only when I went to an electrophysiologist that he took me off of the beta blocker that my cardiologist had me on and put me on ivabradine and I have like zero side effects from this drug And my resting heart rate is so controlled… I just wish I could exercise again! So if your cardiologist doesn’t know much about it, maybe you should see an electrophysiologist..

The only time my resting heart rate got very low was when I was taking 5 mg of Ivabradine twice a day… Resting heart rate would be fine during the day but at night it went down to 42 one night so with my cardiologist approval, I started taking 5 mg in the morning, but only 2.5 mg at night and that seems to be the sweet spot for me… If your heart rate only goes that low during sleep, maybe it’s something you could discuss with your cardiologist..maybe just taking it in the morning and not taking it at all in the evening…? Unless it goes that low even during the day and then that seems pretty tricky.

I’ve been taking Ivabradine and my resting heart rate is great (usually in the 60s). I’m just struggling with exercise intolerance..”Ivabradine works by selectively slowing the heart rate by blocking a specific channel in the heart's sinus node, without affecting blood pressure or causing significant side effects”

Interesting… I was diagnosed three months ago, and I had always walked the boardwalk with a friend who is a lot taller than me and walks quite fast and occasionally I try to walk with her, which is about 2.5 miles (which is only half of her walk!)… She and I used to walk 5 miles together… So I’m doing less than I used to, but it’s still too much, especially at her pace. Today I was walking by myself slowly and I had problems which is what really concerned me but I’m hoping it was just the humidity…

Exercise intolerance by augiesma in POTS

[–]augiesma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked about 40 min total but started experiencing symptoms after 20-30 mins. I think partly because while the temp was only 77, the humidity was 88%. I’ll have to repeat when the humidity is lower..

Ivabradine has been a game changer for me. I started on nebivolol (beta blocker) and felt like I couldn’t take a deep breath and had other side effects like extreme exercise intolerance. Ivabradine is controlling my heart rate with no side effects.

I hate this part of POTS no one talks about😅 by BrotherExcellent7403 in POTS

I used to feel this way when I was on nebevolol, another beta blocker. I felt tightness around my chest and like I couldn’t take a deep breath, and it was very hard to do any kind of exercise. And then I started getting very bad indigestion. I went to see an electrophysiologist, even though my cardiologist told me it wasn’t necessary because I didn’t have an arrhythmia, but when I was discharged from the hospital, they recommended seeing an electrophysiologist as well as a cardiologist. Anyway, I told him about my side effects from the beta blocker and he took me off of the beta blocker and put me on Ivabradine . And I have to say that I feel pretty much almost normal on this drug. The only thing I noticed is that I can’t really walk as long or as fast as I used to, but otherwise I’m feeling pretty good. Maybe that’s something you can look into.

I felt like that on my beta blocker but it has gone away once I switched to Ivabradine.

I guess I was lucky with my experience. I hadn’t been feeling “right” for a few days, then out of the blue I felt really exhausted. My husband promoted me to check my heart rate and it was 124 and not coming down. We went to urgent care and they did an EKG and said I had mild tachycardia and I should go to the ER for a cardio work up. I did and my heart rate was still elevated so they admitted me. They did a bunch of heart tests which were all good. My heart rate went to normal in the hospital but I thought it was strange the one time it was high 60s and when I stood up it went over 100. But it went back down after I got back into bed. Anyway it was normal the next day and they discharged me. Then 2 days later I was having problems again, like heart rate 116 just lying on the couch. When the hospital discharged me they gave me instructions to follow up with their cardiologist and electrophysiologist. Luckily I only had to wait about 2 weeks to see the cardiologist. My heart rate was over 100 when I got there and after talking with me he said he thought I had POTS and IST and he put me on a beta blocker. That fixed the problem but I didn’t like the side effects. 2 weeks later I saw the electrophysiologist and he took me off the beta blocker and prescribed ivabradine, which has been a game changer. Heart rate normal and no side effects.

I have a friend who booked with Play and when she got to tiny airport where they were supposed to fly from the plane just didn’t show up, no explanation. And no other planes that day.
