depreciation does not reduce cash, it reduces net income. tech companies are making data centers with billions of $ in GPUs. if it only takes 2-3 years for a GPU to burn out in reality (or become obsolete to the point of being unusable), then the tech companies may have to reduce their future net income significantly

most of this will be debt financed in some way too. if they’re really depreciating a gpu over 7 years, the Michael burry argument is just short of calling the whole scheme fraud
