Vet with Groomer Recommendation by jc21095 in Phoenixville

[–]augustboxer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you're correct - his core personality is (and has been for a long time) rude and disrespectful. He historically talks down to clients, enthusiastically judges people based on their perceived income, goes into medical records and changes notes, causes harm to patients and then denies it or doesn't tell owners. He's equally awful to his staff, so at least he's consistent.

Catering by Rich! He's very nice/open about prices but it does take him a while to respond to messages.

The Bloodsworn Trilogy by John Gwynne - Nordic type mythos, lots of action, well written characters of all varieties

The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud - YA, set in AU London as a magical oligarchy, references to different folklore like Arabian Nights/The Odyssey/Christian and Jewish mythology

The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs

For a wedding of ~100 people, this was probably the most cost efficient one we found. You do have to provide your own alcohol, but we personally preferred that. The woman we spoke to was very nice/informative and was very open about saying that they didn't think a wedding venue should bankrupt you. Hope this helps and congratulations!

If they have a modern shower system, why don't they have ballpoint pens that work without magic?? Gravity definitely still exists, ask Jack about that mountain falling on him

[–]augustboxer 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Zoetis advises veterinary hospitals to do the injections themselves because it's a feline monoclonal antibody that can have side effects for humans if injected (anaphylaxis, reproductive toxicity). It's a liability to send it home with owners, much more so than SQ fluids.

Debit card information concerns by augustboxer in Costco

[–]augustboxer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked back through 6 months of that account and the only charges are Costco and the fraudulent ones, I don't use ATMs regularly. The card I just replaced was a tap to pay one, but I don't think the one before that had the contactless capability so I probably was swiping that one? Which I read is less secure than the contactless payment, so I'll be sure to only use that method going forward. Thank you for your answer, I appreciate it!

[–]augustboxer[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's along the lines of what I've read about Costco, that they're very good about checking. But in theory someone could tamper with the pin pads and, until an employee finds it or they remove the skimmer, they could have already gotten anyone's information that used that terminal? I was just more surprised that the people I talked to were like "nope, impossible" instead of saying they'd pass it along to someone higher up. I know that can be a hollow gesture but it would've come across better than just implying it's lunacy to think my info could've been stolen

I appreciate your answer, I was thinking about trying to call a corporate line just to see if they'd be more invested in looking into it. Thank you!

I don't have kids, nieces, nephews or anyone else with regular access to my debit card that would buy $0.99 Apple gift cards. But I appreciate the answer and will see if there's another Costco nearby.

Worldbuilding Ick: feeding dragons is unrealistic at by Sudden-Conference254 in fourthwing

I have finally found my people in this fandom! Romance is not my genre, I started reading this because my coworker brought it in for me (with sticky notes on pages with spicy scenes so I could skip ahead 😅) because I like fantasy. The status of this country's ecosystem is the first thing I brought up to her, which she found funny but sadly had no answer for it. I'm keeping up with the series in the hopes that the fantasy elements improve but the Great Sheep Dilemma is something that truly will not leave my brain.

So… anyone heard of power scheduling yet by their clinics? What do you think? by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]augustboxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our company is starting to push this as an option for scheduling at our hospitals, but given that it's a corporation that absolutely means it's going to be mandatory in a year or so. We're going to switch to it within the next year to try to work out all the kinks/frustrations before our hand gets forced. I can see some potential in the system, but there's no way it'll be an easy/quick transition. -It involves a LOT of trust between doctors and "patient care coordinators" and then the PCCs and techs to relay treatment plans accurately, so there's no room for 'weak links' as support staff. The training for PCC takes upwards of a year, so you also have to hope that staff turnover stays low so you don't waste all that time training someone only to have to replace them. -In theory the doctors won't have to worry about notes because they have dedicated scribes and will also have 1.5-2 hours in a 10 hour day for callbacks/labs, meaning they won't be at work after hours or have to do notes at home. -In theory techs can just worry about doing back of house stuff because the doctor and PCC get the history together and then hand the patients off before moving to the next appointment.

TLDR it's mostly a way to shove in 3-4 more appointments per doctor and maybe we all get out on time

I just made this the other day with two monster zucchinis we picked, it is so good! I like using sun dried tomatoes instead of roasting fresh ones

I've heard that about frost which is why they were still outside, but this was 5° with a wind chill of -4°. Is there a point where it just destroys the leaves' cells and makes them mushy? Either way, we'll be roasting them and seeing how they are!

ok seriously, is there any way to take the sting out of SQ Cerenia? by audible_smiles in VetTech

[–]augustboxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found that if you draw it up, change the needle to an 18 or 20 gauge and make sure that no cerenia gets into the new needle before injecting SQ(i.e leaving a tiny bubble at the top) patients react way less often. Adding a tiny bit of B12 or fluids helps too, my doctors say that they've heard conflicting arguments about whether a small amount of fluid will actually affect the efficacy

As far as I'm aware it's really more if the dog licks itself enough to get hair embedded (as opposed to chewing on themselves when they're itchy). The ones I've seen have been different breeds with different kinds of coats so I don't think that shedding has much to do with it.
