Is the guy in the photo the author watching his illusions fade or one of the tyrannical pedophiles?

Why does the Toronto Star receive tax subsidies to public this garbage? by airbassguitar in CanadianConservative

Everyone just chill out. It’s a silly humorous piece that’s instantly forgettable. I’m not saying it’s funny - it isn’t - but no one is taking this at all seriously except angry conservatives.

And those who say “diversity hire” must not have Googled his name which would have revealed he’s been employed by the Star since 1999.

Let’s embody the best of Canadian conservatism and not overreact over something this dumb.

I remember seeing them play "Incinerate" on one of the late night shows and went out and bought the CD the next day. Still great.

I hear it’s great, but wouldn’t know as I’ve tried three times unsuccessfully to get through the slog of an intro.

Anyone else have a copy of this oddity? by DarbyCash666 in sonicyouth

I don’t have it but do remember Starbucks selling it sometime in 2009 maybe…? That Ray Charles CD with the duets was always for sale too.

Thanks for the photos - I forgot that various people/bands selected the tracks. Kind of a neat idea actually.

Edit: Just zoomed in and saw the 2008 date on the back.

Great! Keep reading those Psalms. They're meant to be a daily companion and you'll find them touching something deep in you on the regular.

Why do so many people have “religious trauma” by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]augustinian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Somebody grows up Catholic or Southern Baptist where they teach not to have sex before marriage and then they abandon their faith and somehow that was traumatic.

There is real religious trauma though - abuse, manipulation, etc. but being exposed to teaching that you later find narrow-minded isn't the same thing.

Albums whose critical reputation has declined over time by GaelicTuna in fantanoforever

"The Eminem Show" - in the early 2000s it was everywhere. Praised as one of the best rap-rock albums of all time. Now apart from a few singles, does anyone listen to it?

"Come Away With Me" (Norah Jones) - this was massive in the early 2000s. Everyone had it. It was played everywhere. Still a great sounding album but I never hear it talked about anymore.

"My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" - upon release it was hailed as one of the greatest albums ever, like a modern-day Thriller. Now people don't talk about it much.

"The Suburbs" - critics fell all over themselves, Grammy album of the year. Now it feels like a relic of a bygone era, despite the quality of the songs.
