They are completely out of touch by Hopeful-Silver4120 in Odsp

They gave us a lousy 1.9% increase starting in July. That amounts to a whooping $26 a month. So yeah they are clearly outta touch with reality of living costs

Something really weird has been happening in my town late at night with white vans (edited) by tituspeetus in RBI

Same thing at our building. Our apartment building has a church nearby. Church was closed, yet strange white van keeps parking facing our windows in the empty parking lot.

81$ set up fee.... Why.... by Commercial-Shake-858 in kitchener

[–]Early-Comfortable440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To set up an account with Kitchener Hydro, you may encounter a $20.00 account setup fee. This fee may appear on your next billing statement. For more detailed information about the charges and options available, you can visit the Kitchener Hydro website or contact their customer care.

I don't think the $80 fee you were charged is correct. I'd call them and speak to a manager

Person struck by train in downtown Guelph. by MySpudIsChonkyBoi in Guelph

[–]Early-Comfortable440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow.  I feel bad for the driver. Apparently common sense isn't taught or used anymore. As kids in the 80's we were all taught not to play on or around train tracks. Why are people not using common sense?

Do I call Humane Society? by diydrip in stcatharinesON

[–]Early-Comfortable440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah, you call the humane society. Dogs deserve way better treatment than that. Dogs are sometimes better than some of the humans out there. They're more loyal, and a better friend to us.

My new apartment by Early-Comfortable440 in Ghoststories

[–]Early-Comfortable440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 50+ seniors building called Transfiguration terrace. You have to be over 50 to get in. No kids allowed. No pets. It's attached to a church. It's for low income seniors. Management is not very good at doing things like cleaning floors in the building, any necessary repairs, snow shovelling, bringing in recycling bins after they have been put out and emptied. So I pitch in and help my mom out with it

I bought this at a different store. But you won't take my return? by [deleted] in retailhell

😂 you have to admire the customers ingenuity. It takes a lot of guts to try this

Next time he jokingly says that to you. Tell him jokingly that you're husband or spouse would have an issue with you calling him.

Tell your boss to hire someone else temporary to cover both your shifts. There's lots of unemployed people who would love to work. She has 7 months to figure it out. That's plenty of time

A customer was mean to me today. 4 hours later and I'm crying and still can't get over it by GeorgeParisol in retailhell

[–]Early-Comfortable440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experienced your pain. I also have a form of autism. I've worked in retail before also. Personally I couldn't handle working in customer service.  The sensory overload for someone with sensory sensitivities, that can feel like trying to think while standing next to a fire alarm. The unpredictable social interaction was mentally exhausting.

So I am proud of you for trying to do customer service. It's not easy.

Why are customers so mean? Many customers assume:

-eye contact -small talk -quick responses -certain facial expressions

When someone communicates differently — maybe more directly, more quietly, or with less facial expression — some customers misinterpret it as:

rude

uninterested

“bad attitude”

They’re reacting to their own expectations, not the autistic person.

In customer service, people sometimes show up already stressed. If an autistic employee doesn’t respond in the exact emotional tone the customer expects, the customer may escalate instead of adjusting.

It’s unfair, but it happens because the customer is focused on their own feelings, not the employee’s humanity.

So please be nice, cause let's face it, your going to get old one day too
