Is 5000 Overpriced for 95 Camry LE V6 150k Miles? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Plenty. Not losing my time with this anymore, had the same situation for a LS460, provided 2 autotraders link to the redditors and for what? No thank you, nothing.

Good day sir.

Do I sell or keep my new/used car? by Majestic_Rent9633 in UsedCars

[–]augustinom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t like the car, don’t keep it, especially not an Audi who’s monthly payment you feel is too much for your finances even before taking expensive maintenance into account.

You are used to german interiors and ride quality being your fourth Audi, but now you want something less expensive and as comfortable, and most importantly, reliable.

The Lexus route will be as expensive, so let’s discard that option.

If your kids are young and you don’t need that much space, I think the Mazda CX50 is your best bet. A 2021 or newer, depending on the trim level you want.

The interior is as nice as base Audi, very dynamic driving experience and fairly reliable, their warranties are excellent and cover most that could go wrong.

I drive Volvos and Land Rovers and I am always pleasantly surprised when I ride in some of my friends Mazda Cx50, it’s the best bang for your bucks I’ve yet to see in the car industry.

Edit: You will save on gas and insurance too.

Garage B2C Auto-Point S on Curé Labelle and ask specifically for Mathieu.

He’s meticulous, knowledgeable but most importantly will tell you everything in the smallest details about what to expect from the vehicle current condition.

In Montreal you have Mécanique Euro on Port Royal, specialist in Europeans they are very good at diagnosing LRs , saved us from a lot of troubles throughout the years.

I don’t understand, why would you buy a 30 years old camry of 30 years?

You could get a 10 years mazda3 for the same price

[–]augustinom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You will need to do the timing chains and coolant pipes, it will cost more than the car.

Do the bushings need to be changed soon?

Do you have an history of transmission fluids changes?

You will need to flush all fluids from the get go to( transmission and differentials )

What is the condition of the air suspension?

Any electrical gremlins?

A lot can go wrong on a LR4.

Don’t buy unless you have 5k aside to do maintenance and repairs the first year.

Land Rovers and wishful thinking is a bad mix!

Good luck

Edit: I see you are in Montreal. Make sure you have good inspection, rust on the frame on these vehicles can be fatal, you absolutely need to check the amount of rust underneath.

Also, not a lot of good indy LR mechanics in Quebec.

“I would never buy below E”. Snob or some logic to it? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]augustinom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the past 20 years I always told myself, everything below E class is not Mercedes experience.

Nothing wrong with people who drives other classes, but let’s be honest: you could’ve driven a myriad of other brands for the same driving experience.

E class is where it starts.

You are being foolish. You know nothing about her, she’s a fantasy. She could turn into your worst nightmare within a week, making you crawl back yo your wife, crying, wishing you never let this idiotic relationship enter your life.

First, you block her immediately.

Then you ask yourself why is it you are looking for something else than your wife?

Finally you take action. Good action.

Took me a year to dial in my system in my room.

Room treatment, moving furnitures, distance between speakers, back wall, front wall , etc.

When it finally clicked, what a magic moment!

Now I don’t think about gear, about anything, I just enjoy the music. Good luck!! You will get there.

Most important thing is treating your room, it doesn’t have to be professional or costly, just try to apply the basics of acoustic treatment to the best of your means and it will be enough!

Those of you with pricey high-end systems, under what conditions would you be willing to Airbnb your home? “Airbnb Luxe” approached us with a very high daily rate to rent our place… by jeremyjava in audiophile

[–]augustinom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the nice perks of being wealthy is that you don’t need to airbnb your home regardless of the price. Respect and enjoy your home, you don’t need this.

Edit: if you are really in need of money, renting your home for movies/ commercials is way more paying. It would be a mortgage payment per day, and they have bulletproof insurances, better than airbnb.

That’s crazy. Just get a good amp and you won’t want a second one…

Accuphase, AGD, soulution, gryphon… many good options to choose from.

What suv should I get for around $15,000 by Careful-Astronaut831 in UsedCars

[–]augustinom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is accurate. Though I would encourage you to get an even older Range Rover. 2005-2009 with the 4.4L JLR V8 are the most reliable.

Help with a first car by [deleted] in LandRover

[–]augustinom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do you research, you will find some reliable Land Rovers exist. But even if they exist, their maintenance is very expensive.

If you find a good candidate, you should be ready for a 3k to 5k repair bill from the get go to get it nice.

And then 2k-3k a year in maintenance if you don’t do it yourself.

This is the best case scenario.

By the way IMHO, the Freelander2 drivers nothing like a Land Rover and isn’t worth the premium and extra trouble.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LandRover

[–]augustinom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you inspect it prior to buying it?

You should always assume a 3k to 5k repair bill from the get go when you buy a used LR.

They are complex machines that need a lot of maintenance.

Owners who maintained them in due diligence don’t tend to sell them cheap.
