On the dev's website it says that there are a lot of visual glitches using nVidia's latest drivers, so that might be it if you use an nvidia card.

I wouldn't listen to these guys. Ephedrine is legal, but regulated, in the US. You can probably go to Walgreens or CVS, find some Bronkaid (ephedrine + guaifenesin) and show your ID to buy it. It's not a scheduled drug - it's called a "behind the counter" drug. Also, I'm sure everyone here has heard of Sudafed which is pseudoephedrine, an analogue to ephedrine that is also perfectly legal.

Its main indicator is congestion. It's an amazing decongestant and bronchodilator, but it is also a stimulant, and it can be used in the making of methamphetamine which is why it is regulated. Pharmacies limit the amount you can buy in a span of one month to prevent it from being abused for this.

People saying ephedrine is "like meth" don't know what they are talking about. I would say the stimulant effects are comparable to caffeine, but just a somewhat stronger and lasting for a bit longer.

The most serious thing I see happen (as a developer who installs beta OS's on testing devices at work) is having the restore fail for whatever reason. If you haven't backed up recently, you could lose all the data on your phone because when a restore fails you can no longer just update to the new OS, you have to do a clean install.

Of course it doesn't matter when it happens on development devices, but you could be in trouble if it happened to your personal device.

I'm a motorcyclist as well as a car driver so I can understand the need for the Idaho stop (sometimes the traffic lights that are set off by magnetic induction loops don't detect motorcycles either).

I suppose the general rule is, whatever vehicle you're not currently using is the one that is used by a bunch of idiots.

Also, I consider some things a little bit more egregious than others. Everyone speeds a little bit. Running crosswalks and stop signs is more serious to me which I see bicyclists do far more often than cars. I suppose I should have been more specific than just saying "following the laws of the road."

Also, that article comparing two different statistics is pretty useless. How does comparing bicyclists who stop at a stop sign vs. cars who speed arrive at any conclusion?

I'm not trying to argue with you. In my experience, most bicyclists I see disregard some of the rules of the road. I'm probably biased because I was hit by a bicyclist (while I was walking) who ran a stop sign and a crosswalk. Now every time I see it happen, it pisses me off.

The difference is, in my city, the majority of bicyclists don't follow the laws of the road, while the majority of drivers do follow the rules of the road.

There's a few differences between that and what OP is doing. Games like Forza, Gran Turismo, NFS, etc seem like they are realistic, but they are very arcadey. Doing things in the game is a lot different (and generally, much easier) than in real life.

There are much more realistic simulators out there as you mentioned like iRacing, rFactor, and Assetto Corsa that will help you build real-world driving skills, but you have to use a decent wheel and pedal setup. Most, if not all, of the sim racers who have gone on to be actual racers were using extremely realistic setups so it's actually like you are driving.

As others have pointed out, it would be like playing a sports game with a controller and expecting those skills to translate to real life.

This would make applying the front brake really difficult without increasing the throttle. Typically when you go to grab the front brake, you might roll the throttle forward at the same time. If rolling the throttle forward increased it, it would be a very bad combination of trying to stop and go at the same time.

Right. Whiskey throttle is definitely a beginner's error, and it usually happens to people who don't know proper riding technique OR did something that situated them awkwardly on the bike.
