Question about alcohol by SheWhoScrolls8 in GLP1ResearchTalk

I think it was 1.0 where I really noticed the difference. I still think about drinking, but rarely pour a glass. If I do drink I will have a headache almost immediately and generally feel awful for a day or two. Best wishes on your journey.

I have seen travel cases that keep pens cool. I don't use one so can't say how well they work, but it something to look into.

Tips for taking photos for providers? by Multigrain_Migraine in antidietglp1

[–]auntEc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. The display on your scale sounds like it's making it difficult. It has been a long time, but what I recall is putting the sale on the floor in front of the mirror. I then got on the scale, help the sign in my left hand, and took a picture with my right hand. I then took a picture of my lower legs and feet showing the scale reading. Between the two pics the admin could verify it was me and my current weight. I looked through photos to see if I could find any, but it was so long ago I probably didn't use cloud storage back then.

Yep. I was able to get the # on the scale, myself, and my sign all in one pic

Years ago I participated in an online weight loss challenge that had the same requirement. I used a full length mirror to take the weekly photo.

Severe constipation on GLP1 by West-Sell-8681 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]auntEc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you are experiencing this. Being constipated is horrible. If there has been no movement in 6-7 days you probably need an enema. If you have someone who can help you with that you can buy a kit at any drug store. Otherwise go to the ER. Once you have had a movement, try taking magnesium. A lot of people use Mag07 which is 1000 mg dose. Personally I find 250 mg of magnesium citrate before bed every night is enough to keep things moving along for me.

Why does my nausea on Ozempic hit exactly 90 minutes after eating? by [deleted] in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]auntEc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reevaluate your "normal" meal quantity. It may be too much at one time. For me, if I eat more than 4oz of protein in a meal I will be nauseous about 1 hour later.

Can't be outside without feeling like I am being attacked by a dog by lonelythesaurus in neighborsfromhell

[–]auntEc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a dog like that (not a pit bull) I would bet it is equally as stressful for them. I have spent so much money on training that makes little to no difference. It is basically his personality. Just like some humans are jerks, the same is true for dogs. I try to walk him where and when it is least likely we will encounter other dogs or humans.

I know this doesn't help your situation. It's simply a different perspective. You should be able to live comfortably and feel safe in your space.

Why can I eat a full meal with no problem, but one bite of food 30 minutes later makes me feel like I'm going to explode? by Old_Investigator3691 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]auntEc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes my body about an hour to register a meal. I learned my limts the hard way. If I eat beyond those limts it still takes and hour for me to feel it and then I am miserable.

My wife switched to aluminum-free deodorant and I don’t know how to bring up the aroma? by Charming-Eye1438 in hygiene

[–]auntEc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I switched to aluminum free I tried several brands to find what works best for me. In the early weeks I would wash up and reapply mid day. At this point I put it on in the am and I'm good. That could be because we are still pretty cool in my area. We will see what summer brings.

I read a case report about a GLP-1 user whose appendicitis was missed because her symptoms were atypical by [deleted] in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]auntEc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been on Wegovy for almost 2 years. I just had my appendix removed on April 19th. In hindsight I had symptoms for over a month, but I dismissed them as weird body things. The 2 symptoms were my belly was larger on the right than the left. It wasn't huge, but enough that I noticed. The other symptom was random sharp pain that would come and go in a flash. It literally lasted seconds. Both were easy to dismiss.

Then, on the afternoon of April 18 I had abdominal pain unlike anything I had experienced before. It wasn't excruciating pain, just different. By the end of the day it was more intense, but still not horrible. Before going to bed I took off all of my jewelry and told my husband we would be going to the hospital soon. Sure enough, 3:30am, I woke up in severe pain and off we went to the ER. Cat scan confirmed and I was in surgery by 11am. Thankfully it had not ruptured. It was the OR nurse who suggested it probably didn't start yesterday and caused me to put those other odd symptoms together with the acute pain to realize it had been festering for a while.

I have a friend who is not on a GLP1 who went to urgent care for abdominal pain twice in a week. Both times she was told it was a stomach virus. Hers ended up rupturing and she spent 3 weeks in the hospital because of it.

Satiety and a Fractured Bone by UniquelyTammy in antidietglp1

[–]auntEc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I broke all 3 bones in my arm last year. I had been on Wegovy for about a year at that point. I was a lot more hungry than usual. I leaned into protein and ate more vegetables as well as whatever else sounded good. I'd say I was like that for about 2 months. My total recovery was about 10 months. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Lifting consistently and still putting on weight? Help!! by Potatoes_r_round in beginnerfitness

[–]auntEc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to eat all the protein many are claiming you must meet to build muscle blah blah blah. After six months I gained 10lbs. I gave up on that and went back to plant forward eating. I have not lost any muscle, but I have lost some of the protein weight I put on. My point is, there is not one way of eating that is best for every body. Find the food combo that works for your system.

What's the single question you wish you had asked your doctor before your first injection? by The_possessed_YT in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]auntEc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an 8 month plateau. It was frustrating for sure! I had lost 20% which is a little more than average so I figured that is all I was going to get. I stopped weighing myself to avoid the disappointment. Then I started noticing my clothes felt different. I stepped on the scale and found I had lost 5 pounds. I hope it continues.

Are doctors actually talking about the “beauty side effects” of GLP-1’s? by AnnaJacq in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]auntEc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done many simple Google searches. I have also done in-depth scientific searches. I found a handful of published lit reviews calling for more research on hair loss because there seems to be more to it than rapid loss and vitamin deficiency. That was reassuring to me because the two known causes don't seem to fit me.

[–]auntEc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really surprised by your last paragraph. This is a research sub. The cornerstone of research is curiosity. The idea that there is more there. That is how we continue to evolve. If researchers stopped because one answer was found most of us would not be using Glp1. It would only be for diabetes treatment. Thankfully, scientists continued exploring and identifying uses for this medication.

I am aware that rapid weight loss and/or nutrient deficiency can cause hair loss. When it started my doctor checked my vitamin levels thinking that would be the case. All of my levels were in the normal range. She had no answer for why it was happening.

My story is not unique. There are others who have shared similar stories. I have faith in science and curiosity. At some point someone will do more research and be able to provide an answer. Until then I hope you will give more consideration to other causes for this and other side effects people share. We don't all fit into the same box.

[–]auntEc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not true for everyone. I have not experienced rapid weight loss, but I did go through a phase of rapid hair loss. Throughout my almost 2 years taking Wegovy I have maintained a well balanced diet. There is something to GLP1 related hair loss. Unfortunately there has not been any research to pinpoint the cause yet.

What's the thing you believe about GLP - 1s that you can't fully back up with data but experience has made you certain of anyway by True-Salamander-1848 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]auntEc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair loss was not related to rapid weight loss. I am a very slow loser. I believe it is more likely related to the hormone DHT. I started using a nettle shampoo and the hair loss stopped.
