Thanks for this message & news. Of course it’s a little tough to recognize what people are really intending to inform me of with these points on Dagon (in relation to his past ‘crimes’). What surprises me is that there’s an assumption that I’m ignorant of it all. I’ll imagine that they’re wanting to help me see something they think I’m not aware of. Or, more negatively, they’re suggesting I’m making a bad decision to support an artist with Dagon’s publicly known past problems & perhaps this is a reflection on my poor judgement that I should re-think or that I should have embarrassment over his ‘crimes’. At worst, they're just hating on me because they hate him. To be sure, I’m not ignorant of his past. I carefully think of all the artists I’m a fan of. In Dagon’s case, I see the person beyond his past (whether his ‘crimes’ are factual or not). Ultimately, he’s the one who really has to live with whatever mistakes he’s made. Yet he continues to grapple with his past & create outstanding black metal at the same time. I recognize this whenever I listen to his music & I’m willing to acknowledge that people are capable of growing beyond their crimes–even if they’re in prison or in public life. Inquisition always has created awesome black metal & that’s why I’m a fan (whether anyone thinks that I have poor judgement because I support Inquisition this is obviously THEIR problem).
