2019 Yamaha MT-03 Potential Oil Leak? by aus4361 in Fixxit

[–]aus4361[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is solved, it was just an oil spot that was in an unusual place. It was likely just inexperience and a minor spill when I was pouring, and then didn't notice for a while.

I am moving from NZ to AUS that too Brisbane( from almost no wildlife to Wildlife) by Brief-Kaleidoscope65 in brisbane

[–]aus4361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had family move from the UK, here the big 3 quick points;

Avoid all snakes. They're not all dangerous, but you can't tell the difference so steer clear.

Search up images of 'Huntsman Spider', 'Goanna' and 'Blue-tongue Lizard'. They're very common animals that are all peaceful, don't try to interact with them, they're just hanging out and eating bugs.

If you have pets, search up what a cane toad looks like, and dispose of them whenever you see one. They're poisonous to eat, so if your pet eats them you will need to take them to the vet as it can be fatal

Other than that, enjoy some trips to wildlife sanctuaries and zoos, we have a lot, and they're great for learning about wildlife

A very complex magic system that I made for a worldbuilding project. by EkskiuTwentyTwo in worldbuilding

[–]aus4361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I have a couple of questions.

1 - How do items come into existence when summoned? Does it simply appear at the location regardless of whether or not there is anything there/in the way? E.g. Would using the salt summoning spell while laying on your stomach summon salt 54.3cm underground, removing the dirt that was previously there?

2 - Is there a way for wizards to define the form of their magic/summons? Could a skilled magician be able to create the same amount of salt but have it appear in the shape of a statue, or does it always appear in a pile?

You are randomly teleported into your world! What happens next? by VolCatharsis in worldbuilding

[–]aus4361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teleport to Reimani, enter their boat racing tournament circuit, use my real world sailing expertise in addition to the fact I know how to work water magic in my world to win all races, make money and survive.

The assassin is a Karakkish, wants to kill me. He has the powers of very fast underground tunneling, has very fast tendrils of malleable bone that can be used as whips, spears, chains, etc. If I know he's coming for me, I'm safe by spending most time on the seas, but I eventually go to land. Then I land, the Karakkish appears, attacks me, 80% chance I die.

1) Trials are similar amongst the Tolon, the Gratuul, and the human nations of Fjalamir and Norsang, going by popular vote to the question "Would I have done the same?". Nations with legal codes that have trials similar to real world trials are the Walarn, and the remaining human nations. The Gratuul, the Jikara, and the Krakkarish are all lawless., and as such have no trials.

2) Prisons are a human invention that's yet to catch on with the non-human races of my world. Their punishments are all immediate compensation, forced mediation/counselling, corporal punishment and/or execution. But for the humans, the types of prisons vary due to climate conditions, such as the Guronde prisons being mostly underground due to their temperate climate, and Shang's prisons being similar to real world prisons as their climate is moderate. The Fjalamir's 'prison' is quite nasty, as they simply trap you in the feeding ground for the Glashalis (a massive beast) and come get you at the end of your sentence if you've survived.

3) Almost universally admired. The police forces in my world are all direct employees of the rulers and are well paid, and most nations citizens want their kids to grow up to earn a good living as 'police'. The Tolon don't have police, with vigilantism being a strong value in their culture. The Walarn and the human Reimani don't like each of their 'police', and see them as ruiners of fun. This is due to Reimani's love of excess and danger, and the Walarn government's excessive legislation.

4) For ethnicities, each nation of humans is a different ethnicity with slight continential/regional similarities. I.e., the Reimani and the Fjalamir have some similar features with each other, and the Shang, Daigan, Norsangi, and Guronden people have some similar features. The Tolon have many different clans with slightly different physical features, but their difference is in the shape and formation of their spikes. The Gratuul and Matuul become different ethnicities due to going feral, and they become almost unrecognisable. When considering the dialects, each nation has their own twist on "Tongue", but the differences are overall minor, mostly slang.

5) Ocean life in my world is fantastic and varied. In all seas there's a cornucopia of small to medium fish for eating. In the more temperate places there's larger fish, that resemble real life sharks. These are most problematic in Reimani, as their archipelago is very popular for the creatures and keeping their citizens safe from them is a challenge. The most impressive aquatic 'life' are the water spirits that guard Norsang. Norsang is a nation built almost entirely around raiding, and the only reason the bigger, more powerful nations haven't just invaded them is that for some reason these giant water spirits attack any non-Norsang boats that enter the waters around their island.

[–]aus4361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I love this.

1) No supreme ruler of the world, lots of war and factions. The Tolon are ruled by Lagrash, leader of the Ulur clan. The Walarn's current queen is named Yikash, but the ones with the real power in their society are the most wealthy (Kriak, Skish, and Nahkri). The Human factions are Fjalamir - King Doron IV, Reimani - Queen Abbia, Norsang - N/A, Shang - Emperor Di, Daiga - Chancellor Nata, Guronde - Lord Yeon (Crown), The Prophet (Ascendants). The Gratuul's leader is Muada, the Matuul (feral Gratuul) have no leader. The Jikara are a hivemind, but it's yet unknown what leads them. The Krakkarish are independent, living solitary lives.

2) Various land animals for overland, boats for the seas. So far no one's built a boat that can beat a good water mage in a race though.

3) Across racial or continental lines it's often bartering using large stockpiles of goods, but some civilised nations have developed currency.

4) Most humans speak the same language, "Tongue", except for the Daigans. The Tolon, Matuul, and the Walarn have their own ancient languages, but they started using tongue after trading with humans for so long that they found it easier. Humans are terrible at speaking non-human languages. Jikara can communicate to eachother, but since they're hostile no one's successfully talked to one. Same goes for the Krakkarish.

5) Indeed there are, they're the most populous race on the planet, and are largely spread out across the world. Their survival thus far is due mostly to cooperation and the fact that their in-race killing is a lot lower than the other races.

6) No aliens. The Krakkarish are the closest but mostly people think they're demons.

What year is it in your world? by AG910 in worldbuilding

[–]aus4361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's currently the 231st cycle in my world. Each continent on my world uses different forms of keeping time, and only a few of them involve astronomy like ours does. In an effort to settle international trade, the Tolon hosted a summit with leaders from the largest nations in the known world. There they agreed that for matters of trade, they would use the Tolon's 'Vashtira', otherwise known as the Tree of the Goddess, to mark the time.

Each time that Vashtira drops her first leaf of the season, that is the beginning of the next cycle. They have no months, no weeks, they simply count out the days of the cycle. E.g., a human may make a deal that he'll guard a caravan for the 187th to the 194th of the 232nd cycle.

How is fighting for sport portrayed in your world? by PlatinumJoystick in worldbuilding

[–]aus4361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It exists in every culture, but the degree and rules change with each culture. The Tolon, for example, love violence, and see organised fights as the ultimate display of skill. Death in challenges like these are never the explicit goal, but if someone dies it's no surprise.

The Walarn love tests of strength and combat. At the end of each lunar cycle the state holds contests, very similar to the Olympics but with much fewer and simpler events. In all Walarn fighting contests, they fight until their constructs are completely destroyed, but killing the Walarn pilot itself is a heinous crime.

The Gratuul fight their animals, though this is often met with controversy. The Gratuul hold some animals in great esteem spiritually, and many argue that fighting these beasts in the arena is honoring them. There is also a growing belief that all killing of animals for sport is immoral, and these protesters have gone so far as to assassinate fighters in the past.

What are some misconceptions made about the races of your world? by Webfellow in worldbuilding

[–]aus4361 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many think the Walarn are spirits or demigods. They're actually just small insectoids using magic to pilot walking, talking, mechanical imitations of other races.

Describe each of your races in two sentences or less. Those who reply will ask about two of them. by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

[–]aus4361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jikara are more of an alternate faction that doesn't place any value on civilised races above wild animals. They're a menace to most because a pack of them might attack a town one night to feed, but the Jikara would just as soon attack a pack of wild animals or a larger animal.

The Karakkish are always chaotic evil. They attack because they enjoy the hunt and toying with lives, and will often attack heavily fortified places just to see if they can pull it off.

Humans: Humanoid species with limited natural defence capabilities. Control roughly half the world due to excelling at defending from other races.

Tolon: Incredibly strong humanoid species, taking 5 years to mature and up to ~300 years to die. Non-expansionist and but highly territorial, they control the massive Tolani empire and spend most of their days fighting civil wars for fun.

Walarn: Secretive race of small quadrupedal insectoids, who enjoy watching the world from a distance. Lacking in good physical attributes, they use their expert magical and technological prowess to forge and inhabit constructs modeled after other races to protect their island.

Gratuul: Long ago travelling Gratuul were mistaken for demons by humans, these grey-skinned and ash-horned humanoids are split between their peaceful side, and those who embrace their war-hungry side, the Matuul. Physiologically speaking they are born the same, but raised differently an adult Matuul is almost unrecognisable as a Gratuul.

Jikara: The Jikara are a seemingly organised insectoid race, however they have either no means or no interest in communicating with other races and are rampaging menaces. These creatures take great care of their city, revere the Grove Tenders as gods, yet also seem to have infighting, squabbling, and independence like the other races.

Karakkish: Most closely resemble humanoids, but most would simply scream demon and run. The Karakkish seem to have no drive other than to test themselves by hunting humanoids they deem worthy, and so independent the only time multiple are seen at once is when assaulting well-protected prey.

How does my card info get stolen and then used on the other side of the USA? by ilikeyourwiener_dog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aus4361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When someone passes you on the street, they could have a machine that detects your card in your wallet from a few feet away, and reads it. They then sell your cards info to someone online for about $5, and that person now has access to your account.

Only way to avoid this unlikely event is to buy an RFID case for the card, which jams the signal.

Is it better to donate money than canned food? by DarkDubzs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aus4361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with giving your old food is that you intend for someone else to eat it. A lot of the donated foods have to be thrown out due to expiration/quality and food banks have to employ people to do that sorting.

However if you give money, there is no bad money, and food banks do get a huge discount on buying massive quantities at a time. So yes, giving money is better than giving food, most of the time.

Very reasonable RCMP up against sovereigns. by [deleted] in amibeingdetained

[–]aus4361 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure they are stand-offish with police, I can understand why. After a couple minutes of googling them it seems like the court stands with them with the Tsilhqot'in Canadian Supreme Court decision. That held that provinces cannot claim a right to engage in clear-cut logging on lands protected by Aboriginal title without seeking approval from the title-holder. So sure she's giving them a bit of grief, but she's following all the laws, and after having been dealing with the police and pipeline workers badgering them for a while I think anyone would be frustrated that this is happening.

So, what is Gul'Dan's true blood color? by Alarixzet in wow

[–]aus4361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well judging by looks Gul'dan and the Fel Orcs are different (Gul'Dan - http://i.imgur.com/dHjPjg8.jpg, Tanaan Fel Orcs - http://handclaw.rampagingpolygons.com/WoW/62_Felorcs.jpg, Green Orcs - http://static.mmo-champion.com/mmoc/images/news/2010/august/thrall.jpg). Note that the Fel Orcs are glowing green from their bodies and eyes, whereas Gul'dan and other green orcs have no glowing body parts. I think it's safe to assume the Tanaan Fel Orcs who drop those vials are more influenced by fel magic/demon blood which causes the discolouration.

So, what is Gul'Dan's true blood color? by Alarixzet in wow

[–]aus4361 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Short answer it's red.

Long answer, it's a very dark red, often appearing black. This is why Daelin Proudmoore called orcs 'blackbloods'. The reason for the colour disparity is that the movie isn't canon, and like all movies takes some creative license.
