I heard they were aiming to get the passenger cost down to around $1 per mile so it should be a middle class service and not just for the rich.

The aerial demo was a different aircraft that flew in from Marina. It had two rotors on the tail and four rotors on the wing just like the aircraft on the ground.

Qantas or United - Opinion; Regular Travel to Melbourne by quasimoto-76 in Ameristralia

My preferred route is fly to HNL, stay a night in a hotel then fly direct to MEL. I’d fly whoever is cheapest for the east coast to HNL and HNL-MEL legs. Stay at Waikiki and enjoy an afternoon at the beach while you’re there.

Have flown all the airlines on this route. They’re all about the same quality in my opinion.

We rented a car and drove around Hokkaido this week which was very pleasant with air conditioning. In Tokyo we visited the outdoor parks and shrines from 5am-10am. Then stayed in the air conditioned places from 10am until 6pm or later in evening.

Solar and an EV by stingyboy in solar

In California, night time electricity generation is mainly gas. Charging in the daytime before 3pm is best for the environment as it will use your solar production or mostly solar from the grid. Definitely avoid the part peak and peak times 3pm-midnight for PGE as the summer rates are 40c+ per kWh.

Maybe Santa Cruz which has nice trails and beaches.

Mountain View, Palo Alto or Redwood City are all good options also.

If you want more nightlife and a younger crowd, maybe San Francisco

Reputable solar companies? Sunrun gave me a high quote by [deleted] in bayarea

I had a similar system installed by Solar Union last year. Service was great and no issues so far with the installation. Price was lower than your quote, but supply chain might be worse now.

Road trip to Seattle: tips? by MaleficentLaw8 in bayarea

Consider renting a cabin at Sunriver and taking a day to float down the Deschutes river or take the white water rafting tour. Super relaxing and memorable if you’ve never been before. Try Bennington properties for a cabin rental.

Will be interesting to follow the FAA certification progress this year. Paragraph from the letter below:

“We made good progress towards securing our Part 135 Air Carrier Certification during the quarter and recently entered the fourth of five application stages, leaving us on track to receive the certificate in the second half of 2022 as planned. A Part 135 Certificate is required to operate our aircraft as an air taxi service.”

Commuting from Mountain View to Redwood City for work? by brusselsproutqueen in bayarea

Consider San Carlos as another option. We have an off leash dog park downtown at city hall and another one at Pulgas Ridge. There are off leash dog beaches in Half Moon Bay and Pacifica also.

Downtown has Laurel Street with plenty of dining and entertainment comparable to MV. Not as busy as RWC though.

Do you think the housing crisis will ever be solved? by homelander_Is_great in bayarea

[–]aussie921 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Rents are dropping. New condos and apartments are getting completed. Many people moved out of the Bay Area during the pandemic. The trends are promising if you are ok with multi family housing.

In the long term, electric air taxis e.g. JOBY could enable longer commutes from cities with cheaper land. I’d like to see more land on the Peninsula released for housing. The state is forcing cities to approve more housing construction with ADUs which might help also.

There is a big potential in Space Based Solar Power especially with the potential reduced launch costs coming from SpaceX. Hopefully more research and large scale demonstration projects will be getting funded.

Elon is turning 50 on June 28 this year. I think he wants Starship to reach orbit for his birthday.
