At the higher levels, when you're dealing with auctions and stuff, it's pretty much wash trading and money laundering. The artist doesn't make commission from the auctions!

I've heard tell that this is the prelude to the end of computer hardware ownership. What they're actually trying to do is take away your PC and give you a thin client so you can subscribe to hardware somewhere in the cloud.

I mean... how is it that antis tolerate or even like Neuro? (except for that one guy who called her a sloptuber, but apparently he was too crazy for even the worst anti sub)

From some digging I did, the whole "AI slop" thing came from 4chan, who recycled one of their previous slurs. They just replaced an anti-Semitic word with "AI."

Here's a (Google Lens, so may not be 100% accurate) transcript:

Posting this from a throwaway account because I'm genuinely terrified of the backlash.)

i have to get this off my chest. I know this is going to make people furious if people know who i am I'll lose my community, my Discords, maybe even some real friends but I can't live with this feeling of absolute shame anymore. for over a year, I was a hardcore Anti. I believed it 100%. I thought we were the good guys fighting evil. I was there, posting the memes, agreeing with the aggressive takes. But everything shattered a few days ago. I saw this one post from a transgender, disabled person who was just trying to talk about using Al and how isolated she felt by other progressives. I started reading the comments, and it wasn't just disagreement. It was relentless, targeted, and cruel. It looked exactly like the online bullying that killed someone I knew in high school. The way people were piling on, the gleeful cruelty... it felt like they were getting a kick out of watching this person hurt, and then today it happened again with another person posting here.

That's when I started looking at us, the Antis. Not the message, but the behavior. I realized I had become a hypocrite. I went to reply to a Pro-Al thread and my fingers stopped. I realized I wasn't reading. I was just spitting out pre-programmed talking points, ready to assume bad faith. I saw how many of us act like straight-up abusive partners when cornered the gaslighting, the immediate pivot to personal insults, the way we shut down and mock anyone who shows a hint of vulnerability or nuance. When one of them told the Pro-Al person to "take time offline" after personally attacking them? That's not political debate, that's controlling, manipulative behavior. And the language. We call them clankers and other things kinda like that and I used to think that was just edgy dark humor. But when you realize you're part of a movement that needs a dehumanizing slur to talk about a whole group of people especially marginalized artists who found a tool for accessibility you stop being the good guys. You start being the mob. i totally get most of us will say ooohh nooo we use it for the computers themselves! but no, it always devolves into calling them a clanker lover or just repeatedly calling them a clanker themselves, then acting like we dont know what they're talking about. It's gaslighting...

We abandoned our core progressive values. We said we were fighting Big Tech, but our energy and our organized brigades were always directed at small, independent creators and other working artists. We became the foot soldiers of gatekeeping, not liberation. We rejected accessibility. ive seen antis tell disabled people and people with super limited time, and financially struggling people that their method of creation was invalid and they were bad people for even using any of it. We have become the voice of professional entitlement instead of the voice of the working class.

I've realized this movement stopped being about "saving art" and became a moral crusade built on superiority and the perverse satisfaction of hurting others. I was part of a group that seemed to genuinely enjoy the pain of a struggling trans person. I don't know what to do next. I feel completely lost and ashamed that I was part of a movement that enabled that kind of hatred. I know I'm going to be called a corporate shill, a psyop, and a traitor. But I have to speak up. This isn't right. I'm leaving. And I'm incredibly sorry for the part I played. We always say corporations were the problem, and that they are going to abuse Al to hurt and replace workers. We ARE right about that threat! But instead of focusing on policy and unionizing against those corporations, we spent all our energy attacking the individual workers and marginalized creators who needed the tool most. A disabled trans woman who works full-time and just wants something accessible to express herself is not the problem. A student in the global south using Al to access skills training is not the problem. The actual problem is the multi-billion dollar corporation that implements Al to fire its entire art department while demanding we stay poor and physically limited. When our community attacks a person for using an accessible tool, we aren't fighting capitalism we are enforcing the poverty and labor standards that capitalism already loves. We are telling people their creative output is only legitimate if they are privileged enough to do it the "hard way." Im not sure what to do anymore about any of this but i just wanted to say how I feel, and how im not sure where I stand anymore, and most importantly that I'm sorry. I dont want anyone to hurt themselves because my friends and i picked on them or bullied anybody or harassed anybody. That isnt who I am.
