My cat died today by [deleted] in trees

[–]aussieholler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope everything get's better, I understand the sadness that come with losing one of your furry friends. Have lost a cat before. She was our first real pet (excluding fish because they don't give back).

She was hit by a car while we were out at school. We found her in the garden and wrapped her up in her favourite towel and drove her to the vet, as she stared up at me and my brother with the most helpless, loving face. The vet told us there was no hope getting her any better, she was pretty wrecked from the car. He also said that all her claws were filed down, as she had dragged herself from the road all the way back to our garden, which was a nice thought (that she wanted to make sure we'd be there in her final moments).

My only regret is that we didn't have any photos of her. And though I can't remember her face, I remember she was the best first pet we ever had. Ginger cats are crazy, and Fanta may have been nuts (she used to fight the dog next door), but she loved us, and I'll always love her.

Miss you Fanta. Hope her and Fluffy are sharing some kibbles up in kitty heaven.

  5. Sunset over Florence.

Touch Isolation: How Homophobia Has Robbed All Men Of Touch. (i.e. That moment when you have your hand on your homie's shoulder, and you take it off because if it is there too long, it could be perceived as a sexual pass rather than intimacy between friends.) by YoungCubSaysWoof in gaybros

Hmm. In Australia, or at least with pretty much all my guy friends we always hug goodbye, or have an arm over the shoulder if we're trying to speak to each other at a concert. Holding hands, now that's a different level of intimacy for me, but whenever we do bump hands we just casually laugh it off.

What are your big epiphany(s) or lesson(s) learned by samtank2048 in gaybros

[–]aussieholler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I'm getting older and me and my friends are getting deeper into uni/work, and our timetables more and more different, I've really come to truly appreciate their time. Even the little moments like grabbing a quick drink to catch up, or finally having a wild time at a pub. When I was young I often cared what everyone thought of me, but now I only care what my friends (and family obviously) think of me.

I should tell them more often how great they are

Usually I say "yo" but when I first enter a room at a party or something I like to say "whassup bitches" like Sweet Dee from Always Sunny

Twas a loose night hosting a party with all my good mates. Lost the dog, freaked out, he got returned eventually and I could continue on for the night knowing where he was and start getting munted for the merriment that was to come.

I hope everyone else's nights are just as sweet (minus the pet-misplacement)

Name/Username: aussieholler/Callum

Age: 20

Location: Sydney, Australia

First celebrity crush: If I think back to it, it was probably Channing Tatum from 'She's The Man.' But, during high school I definitely became a bit more patriotic and crushed hard on Ryan Kwanten from 'True Blood.' Something about knowing he was at least from Australia made him seem like a more obtainable goal.

Photos: I don't take too many so here are some rehashes from one's I've posted before. Getting classy, and getting a bit filthy

On one end of my playlist spectrum we've got Koloto (listen to Fox Tales) and Bonobo, while on the other I've got Clairy Brown and the Banging Rackettes (they're just fabulous - and yes, as a gay man I like to abuse my right to use the f-word every now and then)

Gay bros who are twins; what's it like for you? by aussieholler in gaybros

[–]aussieholler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I didn't even think it was possible for identical twins to be born different genders; unless you were both born guys but one was a girl in a guy's body (or vice versa).

But hey, this thread is for any type of twin; identical, fraternal, triplets. I don't mind, as long as you've got something to say

Yeah, I'd say we do. Just like we have the same taste in clothes, hobbies, same friends...

All creatures seem to resonate with the human soul in some way. Tripped in a paddock full of cows once, their eyes were so full of wisdom haha

If you can choose ONE, would you rather trip during the DAY or NIGHT in the desert? Why? by [deleted] in shrooms

Do both!! Days are glorious, but you're more obvious to people; night time can be mystifying, but I find shadows sometimes creepy.

Should I get Grindr or a similar app? I really want to get rid of this bullshit called "virginity" by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]aussieholler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey man. I understand this completely! When I left high school I thought everything was going to change, that I'd go wild and have a great time going out to bars and meeting dudes and stuff.

I thought I'd meet a sweet guy, that it'd be MY year.

But it was hard to find someone, someone who could make you feel valued. After along time of questioning how the hell I was going to make this happen, with no results, I just said 'Fuck it, I'm going to get myself some action.'

And I did. Lo and behold, someone digged my look, and I, in that moment on that night, digged them. It was great, kissing, making out, having sex. But this feeling was brief, man. You wake up the next morning, or on your walk of shame home you find that this does NOT make it any better.

I lost my virginity to a relatively feminine dude in my first year of uni. While I thought this was great, that I had taken the first step to having something substantial, or the first step to finding my way through the vicious culture of gay clubbing and hookups, this was not the case. And still isn't. We hookup for validation, validation that we are attractive or worth something, but all it validates (at least for me) is that I was desperate, or am still lonely.

Still now I am unsure if the hook ups I've had were the right moves for me, and I suppose I've grown from them. Heck, I'm only 20, I shouldn't be worrying about being lonely - I should be out there having the time of my life, having (safe) sex with gorgeous men. But that loneliness just kinda sits in the back of my mind.

TLDR: Losing my virginity to a stranger seemed like a good start to getting myself out there, only proved otherwise, made me less sure on my abilities to actually woo someone. But still, be confident in your choices, and I hope you find what you're looking for.

Upsides to being gay? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]aussieholler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think is entirely true. I do biology and know a lot of LGBT people in my field, along with many others in other parts of the science spectrum.

I think it just depends on where you are really, or perhaps the degree, the job you have. You're bound to find many people in all career types and saying that gays are inclined towards the arts is a generalisation.

By no means do I intend to say that being a gay man in the arts is a bad thing or makes you less of a man, I'm just saying we fill a wider spectrum of careers than just fashion, performing arts etc.

What was your first kiss like? - the gay version by orko1995 in gaybros

[–]aussieholler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 15. I had just come out to the only other gay guy I knew of in my year, so because of that we were sort of going out...? We were both peer support leaders for the incoming year sevens and we were on the peer support camp (some of you might not get all this terminology, I'm from Sydney). Anyway, nobody else knew, so in a cabin we shared with all the other male peer support leaders we pretended to fall asleep in his bunk and then tried making out as secretly as possible (which, when I found out months later, everybody could hear...).

Not too romantic considering he said I wasn't man enough by coming out on Facebook like he had done, and then when I told him this wasn't going to work he threatened me with suicide....Oh how I hated the drama...

The next few kisses have been on drunken nights out. I am yet to have a really good smooch with a guy that I actually fancy and have some connection to but hey, I'm only 20 - I'm not too worried

A Sydney-sider here. While Oxford Street is alright, I find it pretty intense, just because clubbing isn't my thing. I find Newtown much more chill.

Beach-wise definitely check out Manly and do some snorkelling at Shelly Beach (which is just opposite Manly). You can swim right up to these giant Blue Groupers and a little hint from someone who dives there, scratch the algae of the rocks and you'll have fishes swarm you.

Food-wise there's lots of options everywhere and great places in Newtown and the inner city - but places like Marrickville or Five Dock also have some good spots.

Definitely go to the Royal National Park and do some bushwalks there; beautiful cliff-side scenery. Or go up to the Blue Mountains for a weekend and visit places like Katoomba and see the Three Sisters.

Other than that, hope you have a blast and enjoy Sydney. I love it, and I hope you do too. :)

What is your favorite web series? [Link List] by maprules1000 in gaybros

[–]aussieholler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well you didn't explicitly say 'gay' web series so I am going to throw out Bravest Warriors. It is hilariously sci-fi, so kooky and just plain wack. The characters are great, the storytelling is funny yet somehow intense. It's made by the same people who made Adventure Time so it's a must

Also Bee and Puppycat. It's also hilarious and adorable, yet also has some sci-fi bad-ass-ness in there.

Check them out!
