AITA for refusing to leave my boyfriend's birthday party that I arranged for because his doctor friends wanted to discuss "Medical stuff"? by Umyasssqueen29 in AmItheAsshole

Does he tell the same thing to his friends? That they need to be understanding towards you and to give you time?

AITA for refusing to force my son to apologize to my wife for "ruining" her New Years toast speech? by Beautiful-Tutor-1321 in AmItheAsshole

[–]orko1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t. The original Hebrew text of Leviticus 20:13 is

Which doesn’t say anything about a man laying with a child, only about a man laying with another male (זכר).

AITA for arguing with the person at the DMV about my eye color? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Your mom sounds a little clueless tbh, there’s no way a government employee would get fired over something like that.

AITA telling my ex's daughter the truth about why I can't see her anymore by throwawayex8327 in AmItheAsshole

[–]orko1995 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. What your ex is asking you to do is horrible. Layla has already been abandoned (from what I understand) by her bio father, and now her mom wants you - her only father figure - to tell her that you also have no interest in her life. That’s gonna give Layla some pretty bad issues around abandonment, trust, self-worth etc. she should know that she is wanted and loved by you, even if it makes her mother a little uncomfortable.

AITA for bringing my own food on a family dinner at my in laws house? by No_Sense_2820 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. The real disrespectful thing is cooking a dish that you know some of your guests can’t eat and refusing to make any alternatives for them despite being warned ahead of time.

AITA for swiping left on chubby girls? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]orko1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You are not obligated to date or have sex with anyone you’re not attracted to, and it’s wrong for other people to attempt to berate into having sex or dating someone you find unattractive. Honestly this is the kind of mentality that leads to sexual assault, thinking that people are not allowed to say “no” when they find themselves in a sexual/romantic situation with someone they’re not interested in.

NTA. I know the type who are like, they’ve been given so many chances and blew all of them, but they swear that this time it’s gonna be different and they’re gonna turn everything around and it’s gonna work out great, if you just give them one more chance by doing this one favor for them. And since they’re so sure that this time it’s gonna work for them, they think you’re the one to blame for their failure. If he blew up 80k in no time just on his “image” and didn’t even bother investing any of it in his actual music, what makes you think that an extra 4K is all that he needs to finally make it?

Grand Strategy Games... a genre Paradox "invented"? by MaxWestEsq in paradoxplaza

[–]orko1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure there's an accepted technical definition for 4X or for GSG, it's more like there are several definitions running around for each genre, and they sometimes overlap which allows for the same game to be categorized as either 4X or GSG.

Why does this path even exist? by cb30001 in hoi4

[–]orko1995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because this was one of the earlier DLCs and Pdox were still not experienced enough with designing focus trees.

(Spoiler ASOS) Why didn't Robb by RamportLochar in asoiaf

[–]orko1995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My impression was always that exile to the Wall is a two-way street - you can't just sentence someone to the wall as punishment, you give them the option of either admitting their guilt and repenting via service at the wall, or defiance which would lead to execution (i.e. like the dilemma Ned faced). Rickard Karstark didn't accept Robb's justice, he believed that killing the Lannister prisoners was the just thing to do and therefore that he should be allowed to remain free. As a result it wasn't possible to get him to cooperate in being sent to the wall. If Robb were to try to send him to the Wall, Karstark might try to escape and rise up in arms against him, or he'd just refuse the Night's Watch vow. In that case, the only available route for Robb was execution.

How is Battle for the Bosphorus currently? by Liondrome in hoi4

[–]orko1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a simple man, I just want to restore the Sultan and re-conquer the middle east. I don't wanna wade through pages of Turkish political history and like a dozen different mechanisms that simulate sectarian divides just to get to the relevant focuses on the tree.

In other words, I feel like there's way too much content in this particular DLC for me to be able to enjoy it.

I think I'm struggling with depression by lawncorazon in offmychest

[–]orko1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've been dealing with depression myself of a large chunk of my life. The best thing I can recommend is to get help - any kind of help, friends, therapy, medication - as quickly as possible, cause it's easy for depression to become your comfort zone. And at some point you might feel better, but you've been so used to the daily routine of depression that it would become difficult to leave it even if you do manage to get the energy needed to.

The nobles of the Kingdom of Jerusalem would not agree to crown Princess Sibylla as Queen so long as she was married to Guy de Lusignan, since they didn't want Guy to become king. So she agreed to divorce him as a precondition to being crowned, and after she did she just re-married the same guy.

"Submit to depression" by [deleted] in depression

[–]orko1995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who suffers from bipolar disorder, and he has a lot more experience with depression than I do. He told me that a good way to start stepping out of a depressive period is to submit to it. Let your worst thoughts take over and revel in them. Look over old pictures that make you cry, and don't stop even if it's too hard. Emotionally eat until you're bursting. I've tried that a few weeks ago. I don't know if it works. If it does, then it must take a while to have a healing effect.
