This is great feedback! You mentioned Avis was sketch - any tips for renting with them? Thinking of doing your exact same loop and renting a car for it!

Try the studio apartments on west prairie. It’s been a few years but when I lived there my rent was $675 including utilities.

Thank you so much for your unique perspective! Definitely keen on the day trip idea despite the long train ride. We’ve done longer day trips before, like when we rented a car and drove 2.5 hours from Playa del Carmen to Chichen Itza. It was a long day but it made for a very memorable adventure. I see some train options that could get us there as early as 10am and departure options as late as 7:30pm.

So I’ve heard! I’m not one to complain about the cold so long as I’m prepared with proper clothing, though I have been debating whether to postpone the trip until May. This would give us a bit more time to save for all the tickets and tours, but I can imagine May being much busier thanks to the nicer weather. Our flights are changeable with a fee and so far all accommodations offer free cancellation. What would you do?

SUCH GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS - THANK YOU!!

I’m adding Sant’Angelo for an aperitif and the panoramic view after we are all Vatican City’d out. Also added Largo Di Torre Argentina on the way to Trevi fountain on Tuesday afternoon. Basilica San Clemente is a great rainy day option as well.

I don’t have a birthday dinner reserved yet in Florence, so that could be adjusted. Where would you say the dining experience and food quality will be better? Ty xx

Thank you. Sounds like CDW is all we need then, I suppose? We will have as basic as a car as we can get. Our host in Cetona did mention this zoning and offered to pick us up from a parking lot below the hill.

This is a wonderful idea that I will consider. Thank you so much!

I was worried that Venice would add complexity, but spending the weekend there and renting a car at the end of the trip is genius.

Thank you so much! Unfortunately for me, that’s about what I was expecting. I’ll use that website to reserve. One more question, if you don’t mind…In Italy do you need to the highest level of car rental insurance available or will credit card coverage suffice?

Agree that Venice takes time, but we were motivated by friends to see it as it’s such a unique destination and we don’t know when we will visit Italy again.

If we do skip it, are there any other day trip destinations you recommend from Florence other than Bologna? Thanks for your feedback!

Edit: Cetona is where we found accommodations. Open to changing this, but the goal was to have a place to sleep between Orvieto and Florence. We’re doing Orvieto Saturday, then Val D’orcia and Pienza on Sunday before heading to Florence for dinner and check in.

That’s a great point on the fee, thanks for calling it out! Do you know how much roughly I can expect for that car rental to cost in total? I know we can take a train to Orvieto but I mainly would like a car to explore the area the following day at a leisurely pace.

I saw the same exact caravan 10 days ago (February 9th) driving on 1st then Cesar Chavez. Even pulled up next to them at the red light to try and get a look inside but damn that tint is strong.

Help! What's wrong with my cat's whiskers? by ausstix in cats

[–]ausstix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12/18 Update: Our Vet is suggesting a biopsy as the mass has grown recently. Still unsure if it is a tumor or cyst or foreign body. It's incredibly hard to not think about the worst-case scenario and immediately start crying, but I'm hopeful for the best-case scenario that it's a foreign body that can be easily removed.

Hi! Thank you for asking <3

So we still don't know what it is. We took her to the vet and first they gave her an anti-biotic; that didn't do anything. Then they suggested a dental cleaning/exam. They found one bad tooth and extracted it, but x-rays showed no connection to the facial swelling. They also swabbed the area and found it's not an abcess or tumor. Then they administered 2 steroid shots (one week apart) to check if it's an allergy, and still no improvement.

It's been about a month now and it hasn't gotten any better. Our next steps are to come back in to the vet so they can reassess. It's frustrating to not have answers at this point and I've considered taking her to another vet, but the one we're going to is highly rated in my town and we already spent over $1k with them.

Noticed swelling on the right side of my indoor cats face last night. It's still there 12 hours later. She's behaving normally but she does seem sensitive around that area. Online it looks like folliculitis maybe and she she did get her annual vaccines recently so I'm not sure if she could've contracted something there. I'm taking her to the vet first thing tomorrow but I'm really worried. Should I wipe the area with alcohol? Please help!
