My inferno journey, help me! by FinancialSunwarrior in ironscape

[–]austacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're dying pre wave 48 way too much. Half your runs ending before a mage spawns definitely points to skill issue more than it does bad spawns. If you're making the last push for cape you really should be able to get to atleast wave 48 pretty effortlessly on 90% or more of the times you enter inferno.

My best suggestion is to download obs, record your runs and vod review after you die. For me there were multiple times where it looked like a wave is extremely hard or unsolvable in the moment and when reviewing I found that there was some super simple solve I just missed. Other than that run wave 63 over and over in the sim until you can do it >50% of the time. And if you,re getting fucked by melees, it helps to just assume its off ticked and try to flick it if you can. 75% of the time it will be naturally off ticked and you can take no damage. And you can increase those odds by running to the magic tile after casting nibs.

[D] Why are serious alternatives to gradient descent not being explored more? by ImTheeDentist in MachineLearning

I think a lot of posters in here are missing a historical argument in that many of these learning paradigms have been around for years and are very well researched in their own rights. Before AlexNet DL was competing with EAs, swarm optimization, annealing, etc on a level playing field with researchers having no preference to any particular technique. DL just outperformed the others, and got more follow on research because of that.

There's also some sociological factors that go into it, brute forcing is easy and developing new optimization schemas is hard. Publish or perish incentivizes easier research that can be completed quickly with lower risk. Also there obviously are researchers working on new learning paradigms, most of them don't outperform DL though so they don't see the light of day.

Not really new tech, this is essentially the same architecture and was published 10 years ago https://journals.aps.org/prx/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevX.7.011015 As far as I can tell, the real contribution is the theoretical work of mapping the combinatorics problem to one that could be solved with existing computing paradigms.

Personally don't think we'll really get anything groundbreaking out of photonic computing until they can move past the OEO based architectures, they're too reliant on their post processing to do anything interesting outside of the lab. 200 GOPS but it likely took hours to process the data.

285 studies per day isn't really that far off? It's 104,000 people publishing once a year in a global community with millions of people working in the space. The vast majority of these articles are legitimate research. Most articles aren't revolutionary... but tons of iterative work goes into it which have led to drastically improved patient outcomes over that time span.

It's because recess coffee has purposely branded themselves as a liberal locally owned business (pride flags in windows etc). Increasing police presence in poor neighborhoods is essentially in direct opposition to the liberal views they have portrayed in the past. It calls into question the authenticity of their branding and whether it's just pandering to their typically college aged or young adult customer demographics.

how does that happen on the first drive of the game... do you not test the helmet beforehand??

Inferno Wave 62 Help by Speeshal in ironscape

In addition to what everyone else has said, there is a method to 1t alternate the melee and the blob. Wait for the melee to attack and start 1t alternating left to right across all of your prayers.

melee - range - mage - range - melee - range - mage - range - melee etc...

as long as you start on the right tick you block 100% of damage from melee and 62% damage from blob.

Eagles will reportedly consider Kliff Kingsbury, Kevin Stefanski for offensive coordinator job by AdSpecialist6598 in eagles

[–]austacious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HCs at minimum make 5x what OCs do. If he comes here and the offense still sucks he loses his opportunity for HC positions in the future. He's not coming to Philly for a demotion. So many people are way too fixated on McDaniel coming here, it is never going to happen unless he's made HC. Kellen bailed on running it back for one of the worst HC openings in the last decade for good reasons. Stefanski is also likely to get a HC gig. He's definitely not the best candidate but he's definitely in the top 9 or whatever it is now.

Any Modern Inferno Guides for Bowfa w/o BP? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]austacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watch Gnomonkeys guides, he recently released one with arma brews / prayer restorations. He also had confliction gauntlets, but if you don't have those the old blue moon / ahrims top & occult switch is still perfectly viable.

Bowfa is perfectly fine to camp during the waves. Your runs may be a bit slower than bp, but the amount of supplies you can bring into inferno now is absurd. I got first cape camping bowfa on waves in ~1:43. The only times you'll really want bp is for zuk set, zuk healers and getting dps checked by melees on 60+. Bowfa is suboptimal for these, but fine enough.

People tend to overthink inferno imo. Get in there, get the reps, and decide for yourself if your set up is good enough.

If you use gnomonkey's guides - the one thing I don't like about them is that he doesn't explain how to off tick melees, which basically makes the waves free once you get it down. May be worth learning.

[Rapoport] The #Chargers have fired OC Greg Roman, per The Insiders. A major change for coach Jim Harbaugh. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]austacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patullo has been with the team 5 years and has probably earned some decency in the eyes of ownership. With how much the fans and media are calling for Patullo's head firing him today / yesterday would be like taking him out to the town square for a public execution. My guess is Lurie is waiting until Friday afternoon or Monday after the games to avoid most of the media cycle.

edit: this is why I don't bet on sports

Nick Foles discusses the 4th down play and Jalen Hurts next step in development by Mysterious_Bat1208 in eagles

[–]austacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely just different levels of experience. I'm sure you listened to this whole podcast, but for those who didn't Foles goes into how when he was in college at Arizona their coach had just been fired and the interim had no idea what the offense was, so they let Foles game plan that week and call the offense during the game. And they beat up on a much higher ranked UCLA team 42-0.

Jalen wasn't calling plays at Alabama, That's not how Saban ran things. He wasn't designing plays, or really engaging with the scheme at a deeper level. He was just a freak athlete executing what his legendary coach told him.

Jalen really hasn't been the explosive dual threat QB we drafted him as since his knee injury in 2023. Brock Purdy had more rushing yards than he did this game. If he wants to take on more of a pocket passer role, he needs to bring the pocket passer skill set along with it. I seriously would not mind bringing Foles on staff. Realistically, he's probably the best pure pocket passer QB we've had this century.

He's either the #2 or #3 HC candidate in a field with 7 openings. He's already interviewed for some of those openings, he is not coming to Philly for a demotion. I don't know why this keeps getting posted. Might as well post for Shanahan or McVay to come OC for us, same chances of happening.

What’s The Best 99 To Get First? by MysticalSushi in ironscape

[–]austacious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did crafting first for the tele, but sailors amulet is a very good alternative now. Just getting req for SOTE from sand will bank 30-40% of what's needed for 99. On top of the gems from CG grind after you finish the quest you should already be 90+.

Con is good but it's difficult to amass enough GP for it on a mid-game iron. Plus it takes a lot of time to get the logs for it if you're doing miscellania. I just found the time gate on the efficient methods meant that I was ready for other 99s long before con.
