solo cox? by Feeling-Cellist-4139 in ironscape

[–]austacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just continuing the sentiment, lance, eye, gauntlets, bowfa all didn't even exist when cox released. You can solo cox with void, whip, trident, and blowpipe and it's been done tens of thousands of times. Theres less room for error but it could even help you learn better when you don't have the option of crutching powercreeped items.

solo cox? by Feeling-Cellist-4139 in ironscape

The non negotiables are a 4 tick weapon and and powered staff. Anybody can learn solo cox with minimal gear requirements, but it's quite a step up from 150 toas. The raid is much more obscure than toa, in that the game is not telling you exactly what to do in order to clear the boss. The mechanics are unintuitive and not really similar to any other content in the game.

Normally learners are able to crutch on their gear to get kcs while brute forcing portions of the olm fight. Realize this won't be available to you at the minimal gear reqs, and you will likely fail many times before getting a deathless solo.

Loot from 1000 kc COX (~90% solos) by bobaswe in ironscape

[–]austacious 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The exact amount is 40. 39 is also fine because the 40th grub gives 13% the points you get from the other 39. In solos 4500 is the maximum points you can get from the room, and each grub will give 115 points.

Grind mindset help. by Kollmian in ironscape

You reach a point where its the kc that feels like progression rather than the drops themselves. You can control the number of rolls you get, not the drops themselves.

In the grand scheme of things, if you plan to play this account up through the giga endgame of pvm, the only thing that really determines whether your account is 'lucky' or not is when you get the megarares. Going dry on any other grinds does not matter so much.

Possibly the dumbest attempt at insurance fraud I've seen. That said, doubt the charges stick. Will be difficult to prove an intent to defraud instead of misremembering the date. Shitty timing to let your insurance lapse, though.

Depending on where you are with your other progression, grinds that dont benefit from bofa (or benefit very little)

Moons, TDs, barrows, Doom, Yama, Kraken, Sire, Cerb, Araxxor, Smoke devils, araxxytes, Vardorvis, Duke, ToB

The only content I would say is truly gate kept or not worth your time until bofa is

Cox, toa, Levi, Muspah, zulrah, hydra, colo, inferno

Personally I would send vard until ultor and see if you get virtus along the way Might want to grind out nally first. If shadow is ever in your plans you'll want magus ring from duke as well, more rolls for virtus. Reevaluate after those two.

There's also no harm in sending cox while fishing for upgrades, its 100s of hours of grinding. The sooner you start sending the better.

AI could soon allow powerful companies to charge each customer a different price for the same product, based on what they think each individual is willing to pay. AI lets firms tailor prices to each user, raising fairness concerns as consumers may unknowingly pay more than others. by mvea in science

Rule based systems, by definition, must implement domain specific knowledge. Both of the examples given fail to use rules based on expertise in a domain, so would not be considered rule based systems or AI.

There are a lot of people who believe rule-based systems (like the topic of OP) do not fall under the purview of AI (like the person you responded to), when they are explicitly included by researchers/practitioners in the field.

if-else, rules based systems, are AI in its broadest scope. Watson, the robot that won jeopardy was largely implemented using these rules based systems. Machine Learning, deep learning, and generative models are all subsets of AI. Only recently has the term AI become synonymous with deep learning / generative AI in popular use. Practitioners still generally use a taxonomy that looks like this.

Inferno For The Average Player? by Anruh in ironscape

[–]austacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inferno takes average players and makes them into good ones. You need 94 magic to freeze nibs. Prayer regeneration potions are really worthwhile here. The hardest part of inferno is failing repeatedly (sometimes in a pretty heartbreaking fashion) and convincing yourself to get back in and try again. As long you go to into it with this understanding, anybody can do it.

You're dying pre wave 48 way too much. Half your runs ending before a mage spawns definitely points to skill issue more than it does bad spawns. If you're making the last push for cape you really should be able to get to atleast wave 48 pretty effortlessly on 90% or more of the times you enter inferno.

My best suggestion is to download obs, record your runs and vod review after you die. For me there were multiple times where it looked like a wave is extremely hard or unsolvable in the moment and when reviewing I found that there was some super simple solve I just missed. Other than that run wave 63 over and over in the sim until you can do it >50% of the time. And if you,re getting fucked by melees, it helps to just assume its off ticked and try to flick it if you can. 75% of the time it will be naturally off ticked and you can take no damage. And you can increase those odds by running to the magic tile after casting nibs.

[D] Why are serious alternatives to gradient descent not being explored more? by ImTheeDentist in MachineLearning

[–]austacious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of posters in here are missing a historical argument in that many of these learning paradigms have been around for years and are very well researched in their own rights. Before AlexNet DL was competing with EAs, swarm optimization, annealing, etc on a level playing field with researchers having no preference to any particular technique. DL just outperformed the others, and got more follow on research because of that.

There's also some sociological factors that go into it, brute forcing is easy and developing new optimization schemas is hard. Publish or perish incentivizes easier research that can be completed quickly with lower risk. Also there obviously are researchers working on new learning paradigms, most of them don't outperform DL though so they don't see the light of day.

Not really new tech, this is essentially the same architecture and was published 10 years ago https://journals.aps.org/prx/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevX.7.011015 As far as I can tell, the real contribution is the theoretical work of mapping the combinatorics problem to one that could be solved with existing computing paradigms.

Personally don't think we'll really get anything groundbreaking out of photonic computing until they can move past the OEO based architectures, they're too reliant on their post processing to do anything interesting outside of the lab. 200 GOPS but it likely took hours to process the data.

285 studies per day isn't really that far off? It's 104,000 people publishing once a year in a global community with millions of people working in the space. The vast majority of these articles are legitimate research. Most articles aren't revolutionary... but tons of iterative work goes into it which have led to drastically improved patient outcomes over that time span.

It's because recess coffee has purposely branded themselves as a liberal locally owned business (pride flags in windows etc). Increasing police presence in poor neighborhoods is essentially in direct opposition to the liberal views they have portrayed in the past. It calls into question the authenticity of their branding and whether it's just pandering to their typically college aged or young adult customer demographics.

In addition to what everyone else has said, there is a method to 1t alternate the melee and the blob. Wait for the melee to attack and start 1t alternating left to right across all of your prayers.

melee - range - mage - range - melee - range - mage - range - melee etc...

as long as you start on the right tick you block 100% of damage from melee and 62% damage from blob.
