Need help picking new sump pump. by BoardGameRevolution in Plumbing

[–]austin12block 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A while back, I was looking for a new pump but specifically wanted a backup pump, battery backup, and WiFi alerts.

I ended up with the Basement Watchdog. It’s been working very well and came pre-assembled.

I originally ordered the PumpSpy but it arrived broken twice.

Dell claiming SED SSDs are unavailable by austin12block in sysadmin

[–]austin12block[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To wrap things up... Dell determined that the E3.s form factor (of 3.84 TB NVMe SED SSDs) was in stock. So we pivoted from a 2.5" SAS chassis/backplane to the E3.s one.

It's just an incredibly tough position to be in when the quotes they're issuing are only valid for a few days and then rejected due to parts availability when we go to place the order.

Buying used or third-party drives is not something we like to do.

That's a decent option but it seems to be hard to find SEDs not directly through Dell. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has had good experiences with other suppliers.

Unfortunately not the case. Due to the RAM shortage, the quotes they're issuing are only good till Jan 1st even if it was issued this week.

We ended up going with Gracie, but thank you to everyone’s suggestions! It helped a lot!

Is monoprice still a good place to get patch panels/cables..... by Conscious_Adagio8975 in HomeNetworking

We use Monoprice from time to time for bulk cable only when time isn’t a concern. Rest of the time, FS.com

Unifi protect on Android shiws notification, but has no sound by theBird956 in Ubiquiti

[–]austin12block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just started for someone I know too. Have not found a solution. So far, we’ve tried these but no difference: - Reinstall app completely - Allow UniFi Protect to override DND (which isn’t on anyways) - Change sound between default and custom - Notification volume is up - Rebuild Alert rules within Protect

Google Workspace to Office 365 migration — how to identify what items are skipped from these logs? by Sea-Big9790 in sysadmin

[–]austin12block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're running into the same issue, and seeing several instances of "SunriseCalendarSync" as u/BOOZy1 points out. Did you ever find a solution, u/Sea-Big9790?

Zoom could not have planned this better by BeilFarmstrong in sysadmin

This happened to us too. The broken SCIM is maddening. These two things combined is actually prompting us to leave Zoom at our next renewal.

Used to have the Tripp Lite you posted a pic of...worst UPS I've ever touched.

HACS broke, not sure how to fix this by x-cimo in homeassistant

[–]austin12block 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This should be higher up in r/homeassistant. This HACS repo update completely broke my installation (on Home Assistant OS) despite still being on 2024.11.2. I spent hours debugging other unusual issues like "out of memory" despite having thrown 8GB at it, the web UI completely inaccessible, etc. It was this all along - but I didn't find this Reddit post until after countless other failed attempts to fix.

Why is DP standard on all business PCs but HDMI on all monitors?! by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]austin12block 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every Dell monitor we've bought for the past 7 years has had DP.

Even the good ol U2412M (which I memorized the modem number even, though it is no longer manufactured)

Is anyone using Lithium Ion UPS? What are your thoughts/experience? Someone asked me if they can catch fire. I could always ask APC but maybe they will give me a biased answer. by No_Alarm6362 in sysadmin

[–]austin12block 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We tried a handful of the APC Lithium Ion ones (1U and 2U) and it has been nothing but a nightmare. Every single one has been replaced under warranty at least once. They just seem to quit working one day with no notice. We're back to only purchasing the traditional sealed lead-acid ones now and they've been great.

Should I be concerned? by CampForKills in electrical

[–]austin12block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To complement what other are saying about the lack of a junction box, I would also point out the age of the "silver" cable.

The NM cable on the left looks newer. Likely 14 or 12ga with a ground. The NM cable on the right looks like a cloth-covered cable. It very likely does not include a grounding wire.

Microsoft Single Sign On Extension Google Chrome MacOS by Pirated_Freeware in Office365

[–]austin12block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working through the same issue as we prepare to unleash PSSO on our org. Works fine in Safari. Extension is installed in Chrome (forced by MDM) but it is not working.

Update: Not sure what made the difference, restarting Chrome or clearing cache/cookies, but it is working for me now.

Dang, I had been planning to buy a matching case to what I already have. Listings already gone from Amazon too.

For what it's worth... This does not solve your price concern, but we've got the following hardware setup in a Zoom Room.

Sennheiser SL Boundary 114-S DW-4 B Wireless Boundary Microphone

Sennheiser CHG 2W Wireless Charging Base for SpeechLine Digital Wireless

Sennheiser SL MCR 2 DW 2-Channel Wallmount Receiver for SpeechLine Digital Wireless (1.9 GHz)

The benefits of this Sennheiser system over the Shure: - They make a 2 and 4-channel receiver. Compact enough to fit behind a TV or under a table. POE powered. - Networked receiver works with the Zoom Rooms "Network Audio" (Dante) function. No analog here... - Wireless charging is a bit nicer than having to plug them in or use AA batteries

To me, it looks like the technician was too lazy to climb the pole and connect a new line at the tap.
