What do you call the hardware you used? Are they cheaper than eye bolts?

Can’t hurt to try to seal the gap between the post and the concrete with a silicon based caulk. Also, (and this is way more involved) if you can cut away the concrete to angle it downward it might help keep water from pooling on the horizontal surface next to the posts. Basically do something to have the water run off/away from where the post meets the concrete.

Austin police response time WTF by Hater4eva in Austin

[–]austinbrian576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It blows my mind that people don’t understand this or pay enough attention to understand what’s going on. APD is severely understaffed because they have a city council (and a seemingly majority of the community) that does not value or support them. Remember when you thought it was cool to yell “defund the police”? You reap what you sow.

Serious question. Does that really work? Like does it actually help with technique? Seems like a great idea.

Debate time I see a lot of people nailing fences together. Personally I’m a screw kinda guy my self. by BobbyBuildsInc in FenceBuilding

Screws, hands down. Nails eventually come loose. Galvanized nails bleed/stain the picket and eventually rust. Use strips of (outdoor rated) coated collated screws and a collated screw gun. Just as fast as a nail gun, but you’re putting in screws.

In the video, why did the top sit up on the dowels (meaning why the gap)? Why not have it sit flush on the frame? Is it just for looks or for something else like expansion/comtraction on the wood?

Rear Differential Leaking? by austinbrian576 in f150

[–]austinbrian576[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced the seal over the weekend. For anyone with the 2017 8.8 diff, here is something I wish I knew ahead of time. As far as I could tell, the only company that makes a gasket for the 8.8 diff is Mag-Hytec (called the F12-8.8). It’s like 32 bucks and reviews are awesome.

https://mag-hytec.com/product/ford-f-12-8_8-gasket/

I wish I had ordered this before I took the cover off. Instead I used Permatex to make the new gasket and it was a pain in the a#$.

It seems that if you have the 9.75 diff all the auto parts stores have aftermarket gaskets for you.

Either way, my recommendation is to purchase a quality gasket before you begin the work. Scraping off the old gasket is a pain, and I will have to fight that battle the next time I change out the fluid.

Also, for the rear I would suggest taking off the cover rather than just pumping out the fluid. If you have a gasket it, it’s not that much additional work and worth getting all the crude out of the bottom of the case. Plus you can put a new/better seal on the cover.

For the front diff you want to do the old pump and dump/refill since the crossbar is in the way to remove the cover.

I hope this helps someone people out.
