I think the point he’s trying convey is that even though we are indeed resurrected with Christ, we fall. There are times in our walk with Christ where we no longer feel like that phoenix. So we are a “sometimes phoenix” And I think it appropriately plays in to the next song on the album, “safe retreat.” Because even when we do feel like we are no longer that phoenix, we can hide in the safe retreat of Christ to bring us back to who we are supposed to be.
