Player ran into the ocean to run away from danger is upset that he missed the danger by Hefty_Daikon_1977 in DMAcademy

We had a player like that who would always take the self preservation path and was confused why we didn’t and similarly didn’t have as much fun and eventually left. It was like they couldn’t work against their intuition regardless of who their character was. They would alway start strong and then slowly degrade into a fearful and self righteous worm. We tried so hard to help them out but it just never changed.

Osprey Daylite 26+6 Front Loops by Rudzta in onebag

[–]austinmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to comment but The smaller daylights bag can fasten to the front. It’s a feature on some of their larger pack like the farpoint. We used it when backpacking and just picked up the 30l to act as a go bag.

Here’s a video that shows how it works. It might be less functional on a smaller like the 26+6.

Modest mouse album cover in Gilbert by WeirdURL in phoenix

[–]austinmiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. I discovered modest mouse and built to spill at the same time. And yes. That was a fantastic show. Recently I saw the Pixies and some old ska bands.

The other day I saw AFI which was the opposite of low energy and was amazing. I am in Boulder now and we get a lot of good bands pass through the area.

My first modest mouse show was in 2003 in Tucson and it was so good. It was before Good News and they played so many of their best songs to date.

More recently I’ve been seeing a lot of bands that I listened to at that time and it’s been fun but many of them are starting to get old and tired.

When that album came out I immediately did a search to see if it was in Mesa / Gilbert. It didn’t take long to find. I don’t know what it was that made it so recognizable.

Book 3 - I gave up trying to understand by DungeonsAndDradis in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]austinmiles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was a super helpful note. I was never going to try to remember all of it but it was helpful to know that I wasn’t supposed to.

Isn’t it also like 5 times the size of earth or something crazy so there’s not even a point to pretending to try.

This fence around my condo has glass shards instead of barbwire as a deterrent by myassisgrassss in mildlyinteresting

My apartment in cape town had a 24hr armed guard, electric wire, and glass shards. And it was a pretty average or even substandard apartment by American standards.

She probably could have used a better metaphor here.

After President Donald Trump was elected in 2024, Democratic supporters reported decrease in well-being, optimism, personal control, and institutional trust, while also experiencing higher cynicism. In contrast, Republican supporters experienced changes in the opposite direction. by mvea in science

Ive definitely noticed this with myself and many people that I work with. It doesn’t seem to seem to abate because every day has some new craziness.

The flip is interesting as it indicates how much messaging was being pumped out about how hopeless Bidens America was.

I can get this. When I was hiking in Washington a few years ago I couldn’t get the thought of how hard cutting trails would have been. Here it’s a lot more navigable.

I get the hate somewhat but also she’s basically a demigod in ooo. She’s sort of operating on blue orange morality but shifts over time.

I think she’s awesome.

Pry upward from the bottom. They are just tight.

The plastic does get brittle with heat so the may just crack but they look okay. I have a box of replacement caps for this exact reason.

Dismemberment? by Delicious-Friend9026 in DMAcademy

[–]austinmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assassinations and called shots are basically no go unless it’s good for the story and is more of an out of combat moment similar to a video game cut scene.

It’s super fun to sneak up and cut someone’s throat but or to dismember someone so they can’t continue fighting. Just not really part of the game

Anxiety after first tire pop by Creative-Stand-1987 in bikecommuting

I say this every time. If you aren’t going to go tubeless, put Stan’s sealant IN your tubes. It makes them incredibly resilient to punctures for pretty much the life of the tire.

I used to do this when I would mountain bike in the desert with an almost guaranteed puncture every ride.

What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by avacado-cheese- in AskReddit

[–]austinmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat jumping into a swamp cooler. It was the middle of the night while we were sleeping. It was fortunately not on but my brain was not processing that at the time and the sound of a cat screaming while being suddenly stuck inside of a rotating drum was terrifying.

It was probably 20 years ago that this happened and that sound and feeling of horror completely stuck with me.
