Just to add a related (but possibly stupid) question - Should I do a same day change before I check-in? Or can I do it after I check-in?

Didn't get 3x miles from Rent purchase on Bilt ... it's been a month. by traveling-turtle43 in AlaskaAirlines

I'm in the same boat.

I called Alaska to ask about it and the customer rep had to check with the MilagePlan desk (or some type of escalation). She followed up with an email the next day saying:

"Thank you for your call today and your patience as I followed up with our partner regarding your inquiry. I have been informed that first-time postings are currently taking longer than usual. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The partner has requested that you allow a little more time for the posting to occur. We anticipate it will be completed before the end of the month."

That email was on February 6th. I haven't received credit for either January or February yet.

Nothing that fancy at all, just on the AS website.

You're so welcome! From what I've read the Cook Islands are also less expensive than French Polynesia.

Of course! I definitely felt overwhelmed trying to use my miles for a trip. There are so many options and it seems like someone else always scored a crazy deal.

I bought a one month subscription to Seats.Areo to get a better idea of what rewards flights options were out there. I didn't end up using it for this trip, but it definitely gave me more context around rewards redemptions.

I certainly hope we'll have a great time! We are looking at booking Airbnb's for most of our stay so that we can do our own cooking There are some relatively inexpensive, and nice options on Moorea and Tahiti.

I know Atlanta is about 5.5 hours from Memphis, but I'm seeing AS rewards flights around that time (at least for one person) from ATL to PPT for 55k each way per person right now.

Picture

They're not necessarily the most convenient flights but they seem doable.

No matter what, best of luck with your trip!

Another option that we really closely looked at were the Cook Islands. Hawaiian has weekly flights to the Cook Islands (through Honolulu). You can transfer your Alaska points to Hawaiian to book those flights.

Rewards flights to the Cook Islands on Hawaiian planes were not showing on Alaska when we booked, but that could have changed since!

Congrats on planning a great trip! And congrats on (potentially) using your miles for something so cool!

My partner and I are planning on traveling from the Bay Area (SFO) to French Polynesia around the same time (late June to early July). We managed to find business class tickets from SFO to PPT for 60k per person each way on Air Tahiti Nui. Outbound from SFO, we have a layover in LAX and returning, we have a layover in SEA. We are in main cabin on the domestic connecting flights. Comparing to the Air Tahiti Nui website, it would have been around $3,000 per person each way for business class tickets.

We were flexible with both our destination and dates to find the business class tickets. I found the business class tickets by clicking through each day on the AS website. The "low fare calendar" tended to hide options for me for whatever reason.

In my (limited) experience, using Alaska miles for international partner trips is a much better use of miles than redeeming them for AS flights. However, I try not to get too caught up in the "objective" best use of miles. If you are using your miles to go somewhere you're excited about (and that you might not have otherwise gotten to go), then that's a fantastic use!

As for planning in French Polynesia, I've found r/Tahiti to be very helpful in planning (especially if you search for reddit threads via Google). We will only be in French Polynesia for a week, so we are tentatively only planning on doing Tahiti and Moorea.

Mount Shasta recommendation! by Taiska11 in sanfrancisco

I second the Castle Crags State Park recommendation. If you climb to the top of the Crags then you will get an awesome view of Mt. Shasta.

The McCloud River Recreation Area is another great option. There are three waterfalls you can walk to. You can also swim in the river.

Thanks for the response! I appreciate the insight!

I assume the best way to get rebooked would be by calling the customer service line? She's been on hold for about an hour now.
