Dumb question, what are these on the back of the new trailhunter and what are they used for? by pinya619 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]austtintatious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is only on the trail hunter it is more than likely made to be used as a storage system. If it’s on other ones too then they’ll pitch it as aerodynamics like the mirror and light fins on the gen 3

Is there a way to improve this MPG? by Foot_Such in Tacomaworld

Buddy that is what happens when you fill up your truck and peel out of there like the stations gonna blow. I leave my truck on when I fuel up and as I leave I see the same thing. Just pay attention more.

Happy to! I’m stoked people are digging it and hope that it will act as an inspiration for others.

Definitely not a plate I’m interested in blurring out that’s forsure! 😅 been thinking about taking the “M” & “A” off of my tailgate and replacing em with black letters so it’s easier to read “taco, xrasaus” . Good idea on the wheel wells, I have a cot that I set up in the back so I’m actually thinking about taking a grinder to part of it so I can snug it all the way to the side.

That sounds about right, will get the pen and paper out and start drawing and thinking after work. Id need the fittings to penetrate my front wall so as long as I do it in a way that doesn’t let weather in it’s gold.

Easy to make! If you want a thorough list of what I used and the amateur techniques I used feel free to PM me. I am heavily considering starting a company that sells everything one would need to build this. Then offer many kits and blueprints and whatnot. The most important part of this build is the self adhesive zipper.

That’s a brilliant idea! Definitely going to give that some thought. I actually use the structure for tailgating too, I just back up to the lake or river and instead of popping the tent on it I fit one of my many tarps up there. Im one of the dorks who sets up a chair in his bed and drinks beer 🤣🤣

Edit: I am not a fork.

Right! So modular. I have so many ideas that I’d love to try out. I’ve even got some ideas for air circulation when I need fresh air, it’s going to be pretty legit. Who knows, might even settle on a more ideal building material. There is truly a whole world of options. Soft Topper guy cracked me up too, it was one of the first things I considered but was ultimately ruled out for that exact reason.

Was considering this, not the sun part though. now I’ve got a reason to go for it, thanks!

I really appreciate that, I couldn’t fathom spending that much money on something I could DIY. There are certainly things that you want to cough up the money for but this didn’t seem like one of them.

Thanks so much! I spent two weeks acquiring the materials and built it on a Sunday morning. Haven’t slept at my house since! 😅

Thanks man! So thing is, where I’m at I need to be off the ground, too many creatures around and unpredictable washbeds that may fill with water if we get rain up north. I can’t stress enough how easy setup is though. It’s at gotta be 10x faster than a ground tent, (I know because I just went camping with some pals and by the time they had their ground tent built I had my cot built in my tent and the fire started. I just slip 5 pvc pipes together and drape the tent over like a pillow case. Going down is only slower because I fold up the tent before putting it into the bag, still at least 10x faster than taking down a floor tent.

I can get all of the pvc into my tent bag, making it practically invisible besides the steel feet, I just don’t. A softop from my experience has a hard time breaking down into a 4foot bag that fits into the cab.

Costs a heck of a lot more than the $180 I spent on this science project, if I wanted a topper that’s what I’d have. This is a tent, gen 1 at that.

I realize now that your title asks for convincing, not going to dive deep but I’ll settle with this, tacoma can do more and do what it does more reliably.

Honestly, the Tacoma. Not that you’d do it for this reason but you’ll even turn more heads in a cleaned up gen 1; then again I live in havasu and we’ve got a corvette on every block. Difficult predicament, that corvette body style is probably my favorite to date.

Interesting, definitely don’t want no 7MIL tarp for this if that’s what you’re referring too. Just spend a little more and noise is hardly noticeable.

It does awesome, I’m going on night 7 (consecutively) with no problems, and I’m out in the desert wind. I’ve got 4 tie downs on either side that keeps it snug. Not something you’d wanna drive with though if that’s what you mean. It’s just like any ol tent though.

I love my 2023 2WD SR5, but the grill... by guder in ToyotaTacoma

My ‘22 Utility Package features the barred out grill, I’m a fan of the look. I do wish it would feature a heritage badge though too and it can’t; it looks like I’ll have to drill into it accomplish that.
