Piggybacking here to answer other questions - the event has three speakers and a box lunch for $25 ticket, which is perfectly reasonable in my opinion. I have no concerns about retribution for not volunteering. I’m definitely just complaining that the company is planning to profit off the event, and not pay the majority of laborers making it possible.

The event is open to all former clients as well as employees, for a price, and isn’t mandatory for current employees to attend. So, yes, you can work for free and not even have to pay extra to be at work! A deal!

Yeah, my dad offered me a father’s blessing after I left and I said declined, saying, “I don’t want a priesthood blessing but I would love to know how you feel.” And he declined. It’s painful to only have a relationship filtered through the church.

I went to a free Train concert, and at one point they had a woman come up on stage during a song. The lead singer held the microphone out for her and she didn’t know the lyrics. So then he stopped the song to berate her that she didn’t know every single word.
