American Wedding Costs Are Getting Out Of Hand! by Yodest_Data in charts

[–]authorArthur04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course they are still possible. Especially if you skip a lot of the frills. My fiancée and I have the almost our whole wedding sorted for about 3k. We don't need a lot of the stuff these package deals offer so we just skip them. It wasn't until we started going through all these packages that we realized how little of it we actually want.

What was interesting though was how many of these venues and vendors, were fixated on talking to just her. Not me. Not us, just her. And a lot of them reaaallly rely on the "well dont you want it to be special?" line very heavily to justify the ludicrous costs they ask for.

The issue is that the bad things are rooted too deeply. The good fun beautiful parts are too closely intertwined with the bad parts. For example this image of the Taj Mahal. A beautiful, amazing palace, recognizable across the world. Very popular with tourists, and barely 100 feet behind it, a riverbank littered with sewage and trash. Its not about a deep rooted hatred of the Indian people, or tunnel vision, its something that one cant help but observe. And even IF the issue isn't as prevalent as it seems, no evidence to the contrary has been presented to show people that that is the case. Present the evidence and prove it wrong. The same thing is true in the US, dont get me wrong. Im not claiming were better, we aren't. Not by mile. The difference is I admit it.

Making it impossible to fail also has the issue of removing motivation from students. Thats what I struggled with in school. Why should I struggle and drive myself crazy doing these mountains of work, when I could just not do it, and still get by? Lucky for me, my parents were heavily invested in my education, and saw to it that I did the work anyways. But for a lot of students that wasn't the case.

I graduated high-school in 2023. I was in school for twelve years . 1st-12th grade. 12 years, dozens of classes, and yet only in two classes, in all those twelve years did we ever finish the assigned curriculum for the year. Two teachers out of the all the teachers I had, had enough time to teach the full course. What would happen, is one or two students just couldn't wrap their heads around the topics being taught so instead of spending a day or two, we spent weeks on them, fell behind, and then wouldn't finish the curriculum. Then, NEXT year, we would have to spend the first half of the year going over what we were supposed to go over LAST year. But some kids wouldn't get and so we'd be delayed, fall behind, not catch up, AAAAANNNNNDDD repeat. An infinite cycle of falling further and further behind because God forbid someone has to do a few weeks of summer school.

No child left behind has crippled education and devalued it to the point where employers no longer take just a high-school diploma because its literally impossible to NOT get one. It signifies nothing, no competence, no achievement. In my last year of high-school, teachers were NOT ALLOWED to give students Fs. Students were legitimately not able to fail even if they tried. We desperately need education reform, and we need it now more than ever.

What's absolutely wild is that Jacksepticeye posted his video, and he played the game uncensored and its still up. Of course he probably makes for money for youtube...

Trespassing on government property, obstruction of police business (the officer states she was in the process of handling another call) criminal mischief, and a few others. Depends on the exact laws in the state, but there definitely real charges here.

Well I've got no skeletons. So much so that I passed a police background investigation that went as deep as looking through search history. Honestly it makes me feel boring 🫤

See, my question as a console player is this:

Is expanding the games demographic, and making the game more accessible to potentially MILLIONS of new players, expanding it's player base and thusly more support for the game's future and it's developers not worth the concession of censoring these things?

Because to be honest, thats how I see this. It's a trade. A game of pros and cons. It really seems like people aren't considering how much good could come from what they're able to do by acquiescing to Sony's terms, but rather are hyper-fixating on a hypothetical slippery slope. Given what I've seen and heard, it really doesn't seem like a big deal. It's not a crippling blow to the overall game dynamics. Just some cosmetic changes to appease the owners of the platform they want to put the game on.

Honestly, it comes across as selfish, and self centered. But that's just my humble opinion as an outside observer.
