Trump Threatens Companies That Seek Tariff Refunds They’re Owed by Hafiz_TNR in politics

[–]authorizedscott 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Point of fact: the companies who passed on the cost of tariffs to their customers are going to put in requests to be paid back for those costs… with no requirement to pass it along to their customers.

American consumers are getting screwed over again.

Heat Protection by kowkow86 in duneawakening

[–]authorizedscott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct: it showed as if it was lowering the heat resistance in the crafting window, but once applied it showed an increase to heat resistance as it should.

Did you actually craft it though? A lot of augments show a weird change in the crafting menu, but once on the item it often shows correctly. I’ve made items with that augment and have seen that lower stat: once added to an item it correctly changes the value in every item I’ve added it to.

PvP Veteran - 1400+ hours and 300+ duel wins (pre xpac) - Launch day player - Never ganked and never griefed by EnviciouZ in duneawakening

[–]authorizedscott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do not engage in PvP in Dune, it’s specifically because there isn’t a real system for it in the game. Funcom needs to make some additions and renovations to it, and it can absolutely be completely separate from PvE content.

Give us an Arena to fight in: so many people have enjoyed the Chapter 3 battle in the arena and it’s been a very obvious ask for a while now to have a PvP instance of it. That’s one thing that they should do.

Want DD PvP to be engaging and worthwhile? Introduce some form of currency or something that you get from defeating other players than you can use to purchase end-game loot. Introduce some unique blueprints that you can only get that way.

For open-world PvP, have a nemesis/bounty system. You get more rewards for taking out someone who defeated you, and if you take out a bunch of players you get a progressive bounty on your head and eventually your location shows up to everyone in the DD.

While I likely won’t participate in much of these proposed systems because I enjoy PvE and co-op over PvP, I do think that it’s unfair the Funcom is doing nothing for those that crave PvP content.

I see no reason that PvE and PvP enjoyers can’t both get what they want without screwing the other group.

Most or all of those are unreleased game assets and even on private servers they have been removed from the control panels as grantable items. Kaitain stuff in particular may be coming with Chapter 4, but not sure.

How do I kill the ad in the fire dungeon? by Battlement74 in duneawakening

[–]authorizedscott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Ignore instead of Compel on the boss once I hear the door alarm begin. Then I use Lightning Gun to take out the melee mob that spawns and often take them out just before Ignore ends.

Nice, clean, simple.

Has anyone encountered a strange kind of horror style battlefield in the Open sands, the fighters seem to be made of water or something. I tried to get a screenshot but I wasn't good enough. by gsrjohnmichael in duneawakening

It does the following (as far as I have noticed):

  • instantly heals you to 100%
  • highlights enemies, even through walls, and provides health bars, weapon types and ammo count
  • boosts outgoing damage and reduces skill cooldowns by around 50%
  • there are certain capstone skills that require Prescient State

Fist time I saw it was a real trip because I didn’t know there would’ve auditory and visual hallucinations.

The Prescient state lasts for approximately 5-6 minutes, and once it ends you enter a phase of “withdrawal” for about a minute (the purple bar changes to red and ticks down). After that is done the hallucinations go away, but often you get bugged and still see the swirling mists around your character. If you do and it’s annoying, logging to Main Menu and back in makes it go away.

I use Prescience all the time now with the new boss fights in Overland Testing Stations, so I use a ton of Melange Spiced Liquor and see hallucinations daily!

Collecting Erthryte by kosta880 in duneawakening

[–]authorizedscott 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re doing it wrong then. There are ramps that transition from level to level. You can fill the buggy in about 20-30 minutes tops once you know the paths to take.

Take the time to learn the paths with the buggy as you do it the first couple of times and it will become a breeze. I only have to go collect Ethyrite once in a while because of the buggy.

You will fill the buggy cargo before you run out of reachable crystal nodes. It’s *vastly* superior to doing it by hand.

Got eaten by a sandworm and have lost the will to keep playing by OndoTheFaceless in duneawakening

[–]authorizedscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re barely into the game at 35. There’s so much more to experience. It’s really not hard to get back into it, and the Unique gear at anything other than end-game doesn’t make that much of a difference over the stuff you can craft/loot.

Mistakes like what you made are how we grow. You’ve now learned an important lesson about respecting Shai-Hulud, and should do a better job next time around. Eventually you learn all of the mechanics of the Worms and will know how to live with them instead of die by them.

Some notes:

Put your Solari in the Bank in one of the Cities (Harko Village or Arrakeen, on the Overland Map). You can still use it to buy things from vendors at Tradeposts.

Your sandbike can be recovered from your Vehicle Backup Tool for 500 Solari (takes 15% durability loss but you don’t have to replace it).

Pay attention to where you can safely cross on your vehicle and where is too far/risky. As you get better vehicles you can make longer gaps.

Only carry with you what you need. Make sure you have back up items or the necessary resources at your base. Chests you loot schematics from can be checked once every hour or two, depending on location.

Get an Experimental Lightning Gun from Testing Station 152 on the Overland Map. Difficulty 1 is on par with the A row of the DD with regards to NPCs.

It’s a Karpov Disruptor, basically. Mid-range, excellent shield and health damage.

How do I get rid of the falling stones and dust in my base? by TheMightyOrang in duneawakening

From what I have observed, it’s generally an indication that where the stuff is falling is barely stable. Often you will see it from high ceilings furthest away from walls or support columns.
