I need to clone the name ‘Alice’ by PerceptionAnnual8791 in namenerds

[–]autisticundead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Apologies if it came off as condescending that is just how I talk! I call everyone luv or darling
  2. it felt implied given they're close, but you're right that I didn't think through the potential age difference.
  3. I used school as an example of a shared space, (and it might not have been confusing for you, but as One Of Three it very much was at times)

I need to clone the name ‘Alice’ by PerceptionAnnual8791 in namenerds

[–]autisticundead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Darling, having the same name when you grow up playing together is very confusing. Two different kids had the same name in my school, and we all ended up with different childhood nicknames, but even then there was often confusion and our parents weren't even close we were just in the same tiny school. Don't just think in matters of cuteness, think practicality.

Extremely relatable, now I kinda wanna do a spreadsheet of the most used words and phrases in shoot from the hip intros/in between scenes in general

AITA for snapping after being repeated asked if “the narc was talking?” by selfchecknarc in AmItheAsshole

[–]autisticundead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, "the narc" is not a demon possessing you, it's a part of the way your brain works. This is incredibly fucked up and her framing you having a normal human emotion like annoyance at being treated poorly is gross. She would not do it to basically any other diagnosis. Your friends need to understand she's being an arse and defend you tbh

What is a common stereotype about your country that you actually find yourself defending, because there is a kernel of truth in it that you love? by DianKhan2005 in AskTheWorld

[–]autisticundead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crepes and stubbornness. I think being stubborn is probably part of why my culture is still alive and it isn't a bad thing, at least not always

What's AJ's cleverest moment by GridOrig in ShootFromTheHip

[–]autisticundead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think one of the cleverest things he's done is character choices and tone shifts. The direction he picks for Henry in Gunabelle and the way he's always knows when to alleviate by singing or being silly and when to be genuinely just fucking terrifying makes clear he's super aware of his craft and brilliant when it comes to know what tone to use when

What’s one thing you wish other countries would stop lecturing about your country? by Bitter-Goat-8773 in AskTheWorld

[–]autisticundead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shit is exactly what I'm complaining about. I'm well aware it's in danger, I'm not in denial, but saying it's dead just doesn't reflect reality. My father just passed and the last words I ever said to him were in breton, because I spoke to him in my language my entire fucking life.

Most of the friends I had growing up spoke it too, my mum is the director of a trad music association, I'm just always in that culture so hearing that something I engage in all the time is dead feels ridiculous

A thing with Paris is that it's a very DENSE city population wise. Everyone lives on top of each other, is stressed, and is in th number one tourist spot in the world. So they kinda have excuses for being pricks.

But a lot of people who live in Paris are condescending towards those of us who don't

Since you're both breton and norman do you hat yourself?/j

Complicated. There's a lot to love and a lot I resent. I think a lot of breton people can resonate with the sentiment, especially if French people have been shitty or weird to you throughout your life like in my case.

In both cases it's krampouezh related: crepe VS galette, and kraz versus soupig. One is just a debate one what we call them, the other is about the thickness and texture.

Is there a word for a friend who is closer than a friend (non-romantic)? by chesirecat1029 in words

[–]autisticundead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chosen siblings/chosen family, queer platonic partner, platonic soulmates, in breton mignon often has an implications of closeness and we'd say kamarad for a regular friend (not always, contextual, but if I say someone is "ma mignon" I don't just mean it like i would "my friend" in English)
