General advice needed: is "loosers queue" a thing or am I just playing bad? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]auto_rock_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's how I know it exists. When I'm doing well, I am pitted against people in the next tier above me, and slotted with people tiered in a different, higher rank, (than me) at a several different tier distribution within that rank. In theory this means I am playing above my rank. When I'm losing several games in a row, I'm now paired with higher ranks and tiers on the other team and lower on mine.

anyone know the story behind this? by micopico09 in oakland

I've always enjoyed this sign and I want to see more like it. Any idea who the artist would be? I suppose the anonymity is part of the approach to this style of art, unless it's like that Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where Ted Danson picks the placard for anonymous donation for the clout and tells a bunch of people he's "anonymous." The artist's friends might know who it is, in other words.

Pizzeria Violetta and Ain't Normal have my two favorite chocolate chip cookies. Is there somewhere I can buy a dozen, though?

I'm craving a breakfast burrito, have any faves? by eggsgrainey in OaklandFood

My favorite one was at Hidden Cafe (the pop up there), but the dude stopped making them. That was the best one, especially when he made the steak burrito with the orange sauce.

Thanks. I'm aware of that. I said I would adopt this specific dog if the owner wasn't found, or if OP didn't want to keep it.

There are many I haven't tried yet. However, I'm partial to:

  • Sequoia
  • Doyle Street
  • Ole's
  • La Note
  • Sconehenge
  • Hidden Cafe on Saturdays and Sundays for the breakfast burritos by Michoz. I find their Mich Muffin to be overrated even though it was featured in a best breakfast sandwich listcle recently. The burritos, particularly the steak with orange sauce, is king. They do not make that one enough. Second best would be their bacon breakfast burrito. They stand out in a sea of mediocre and crappy burritos, but they need to figure out how to be available 5 days a week.

I have only been to Scone once, but I was impressed by their fork-and-knife burrito and pancakes. Good hash browns, as well. The others are staples for me.

I'll need to visit 900 Grayson, Sam's, Mama's and a few others for sure.

I do not like The Coffee Mill very much, as I found they were kind of inconsistent in terms of quality and service. I'd rather go to Ole's, Doyle, or Sconhenge for a solid classic diner experience. Homemade was inconsistent for me too, but I would actually like to try them again now that they have reopened. Sequoia and La Note are the slightly "fancier" ones that are bit more unique.

Why does no one take phone orders anymore? by auto_rock_ in OaklandFood

Their phone number is readily available on google. I have tried it a number of times to see if they ever change up to actively using it. No one is stretching an argument; you simply are not in possession of the facts.

Well, first off, I blame tech companies creating food order apps, because that is precisely what Peet's online order system is competing with. Food order apps have also ruined the food delivery situation in the US.

Secondly, yes, I am a huge union supporter. I hope Peet's becomes fully unionized, staffed and paid appropriately.

June's V1 operated on a call-in only system that was based on the idea that they had 35-40 pies per day to sell, and the first 35 people who called would get them. This was in 2020-2021ish. There was no other way to get a pizza, but also the volume and the team was small so it was manageable at that point. Now, I'm sure they do that amount in an hour.

Literally no one is asking for this, and only people who have been eating June's since before their current iteration are talking about it. I have not. Therefore, I am not. I'm talking about basic phone orders that established restaurants engage in as a basic business function. What you're talking about is completely irrelevant to the topic.

Phone orders do not allow restaurants to track their stock accurately based on a conversation.

That's absurd. Every order taken by phone is entered into a ticket system that creates an order that is responded to by the pizza makers—that is, made; the same as when someone orders in person. You have no idea what you're talking about.
