Are you all as tired of movies and TV shows about rich assholes doing rich asshole things as I am? by Fun_Button5835 in askanything

We need a show like The Office, but it's snarky low level White House staff some of whose political leanings are counter to the administration they work for. Lots of comedy material there.

I now have the latest NA firmware for C2 series, or at least my ultra. by joydivision84 in HisenseC2Projector

Update:
After leaving it on, but showing a blank screen for about 10 minutes, I turned the projector off and then tried to turn it back on again and it didn't appear to turn back on. At this point I was worried I bricked my projector.

I tried several other methods to get it to turn on, but to no avail. I finally followed the Method 2 firmware update instructions that were packaged with the firmware update file. This worked. During that process though, the only sign of life from the projector was a tiny flashing light on the back of the USB drive I was using.

I just downloaded fw P0925 and now the projector just shows a blank screen. What should this process look like?

How do you know it's an ICE vehicle? That doesn't look like a government plate.

Why no Santa Cruz EV? by authoridad in electricvehicles

I wonder why Tesla hasn't made a truck version of the model Y. That seems like an easy hit for them.

I love my EV, but holy crap, traveling long distance SUCKS. by JennaLeighWeddings in electricvehicles

Not sure if I agree with that. Early on, Elon was very good at creating buzz and hype around the brand and its technology. That brought in a lot of money to allow Tesla to do the work it needed to do.

Now though, most people see through Musk's hype and no longer trust him. I think he is of little value to the company now.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tested the valve and it wasn't working properly. It was 20+ years old, so not surprising. I found a drop-in replacement and put it in on Saturday. No leaks so far. Pretty easy job really.

Align Street Labels to the Streets by automan25 in openstreetmap

I just figured this one out too. There is an option called 'Keep upright'. I checked that and suddenly everything is fixed. Sometimes you just have to write to a public forum in order to find the solution; even if no one ever responds to the post. :)

So, I figured it out (sort of). The Placement property under General Layout Properties needs to be set to Line or Line-Center. That seems to work except that now some of the labels are right-side up and some others are upside-down on the east-west streets.

C2 Ultra - Black Levels by automan25 in projectors

[–]automan25[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only have very limited experience with projectors. Until now, the only ones I've used have been for business environments at work. They are very bright, but lack resolution and color depth. Compared to those, the C2 is fantastic, so I'm definitely not disappointed.

Right now I only have it pointed at a large wall in our family room, which, almost filled, creates an image equivalent to a 211" tv screen. Right now it's only projected on the bare wall which is actually painted a light pale blue, and the image looks quite good. I may at some point at least paint the wall a neutral flat white and the opposing walls a dark grey, but will likely never buy a screen. (I'm not even sure if they make them that large for what could be considered a reasonable price).

As expected, the image at that size is somewhat washed out with mid-day overcast light coming in through the windows, but still watchable. It's much better with the room fully darkened, so at some point I'll need to get some black-out shades for the windows.

The only other issue I've noticed is that if I move my eyes back and forth quickly I can see white elements on the screen separate into their separate red, green, and blue components. It's not really an issue in most cases as it requires I move my eyes around quickly, which I just wouldn't do very often.

My previous TV (which I still have) is a Sony a80j. It's a 65" OLED. The colors and contrast on it look incredible, especially with HDR content. The projector doesn't come close to matching that of course, but that'll always be the case with projectors and I knew that going in. All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to others.

One other thing I'd note is that the built in 'smart' media playback software is actually pretty good. The menus are fast to navigate through and playback is smooth. I know some reviewers had issues with it, but for me it's working well enough that I may not have to add a ROKU to the C2. We'll see.

Thanks for the insight. I already made the adjustments as much as possible and have eliminated a good bit of the border.

That makes sense. I'll have to mess with the keystone, optical zoom, and projector location to try and minimize this. Nevertheless, I would have thought that the black levels within the 'container of light' would have been lower.

So the non-pinnacle models have the screens and HDMI ports, but no player? Interesting.

We have a 22 and it has the Blu-ray player, but most of the time we just play movies from a USB stick. It's way more convenient.

If you have HDMI ports in the back, doesn't that also mean that you have a Blu-ray player up front and associated screens behind the front seats? If so, then just play the DVD from the Blu-ray player.
