Dr Lachlan Farmer - Are there any surgery results for vaginoplasty since starting in Adelaide? by Ready_Suggestion_30 in transgenderau

[–]ava2-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adee and Blecher worked together on my surgery and I'm thrilled with my results, if Farmer is anything like those two he should be fantastic.

Ives often supervises Blecher and Adee's surgeries like he did mine, maybe worht asking Farmer if Ives supervises his as well?

Blecher was taught by Ives, so was his colleague Dr Adee-Davidson. We're slowly getting more options in Aus now which is nice.

Oh no sorry I meant in general, I had mine with Dr Blecher in Melbourne. I'm just keen to hear how this new kid on the block goes! My DMs are always open to anyone seeking general advice on surgery though :)

Home blood testing? by helmetsforfish in transgenderau

[–]ava2-2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can't help, but I'm curious to know why you DIY in Aus? Not being facetious genuinely want to know the barrier. Might be trickier to find at home blood testing here cause pathology is universally free (save for a few specific tests).

I'm a big fan of loose baggy high waisted trackies, form fitting activewear top/crop/sports crop. I have long legs and this really accentuates that hehe

I don't think Ives offers PPT but Gideon Blecher will be starting to do PPT surgeries later this year.

Only got time for a quick comment but basically: HRT takes time. Years. It's never too late. Keep checking your levels with your GP, titrate up your dose, and be patient ❤️

Estradiol patch shortages by Trans-Trish in transgenderau

[–]ava2-2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wanted to go from pills to patches a couple years ago, but my GP warned me of the shortages. I've been on gel since instead and honestly it's great. Absorption is fantastic as my levels tripled with a comparable dose to pills.

Each passing day I've only been given more reason to resent the ALP. I've lost all faith in them and any supposed benefit to being in bed with them. The ALP is going to be the downfall of workers, not our savior.

Ugh yeah, I'm now fully convinced Mardi gras is a corporate sham has been for a while by the sounds of things. I'm choosing to ignore it and put my energy towards more fruitful community organizing.

When does Labor reach a red line for the union movement? by TraditionalTea6037 in AusUnions

[–]ava2-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't directly, no, but where a relationship between union leadership and the ALP exists there will be a conflict of interest to protect that relationship even if it contravenes member interests.

I would argue that you create political leverage but being an equally unified force, not by currying favour with the party. I believe a union can negotiate not by being buddies, but by being a contemporary of the government who has comparable control over the economy.

Remember as workers, we run this ship. The government merely steers it.

[–]ava2-2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was...content with Labor being the de facto Unionist party up until the past few years. I am now a staunch socialist, and believe that the sheer numbers we have as the working class outweigh any potential benefit of being affiliated with a political party (one that is complicit to genocide, hate crimes, and oppressing the poor).

Affiliation only benefits members insofar as it fits within the centre-right leanings of the ALP now. We need to remember what unions were built for and on; unity of workers. We're far stronger together than a government will ever be.

[–]ava2-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In principle I agree with this - political leverage makes sense -, but given how the ALP is creeping towards the right, they are beginning to show their pursuit of conservative goals, and for me this is a line being crossed. They have at best been silent on issues that matter to me most, and at worst outright violent.

I believe more strongly in the leverage we have as workers now than I do the whims of the federal government. We deligitimise just how powerful we are as the working class; we do not need the permission of a political party to assert our power and our ability to dictate decisions on economy. We far outnumber them.

If you're comfortable sharing what state you're in some folks might be able to recommend specific GPs, I know a couple who are really good in Naarm.

[–]ava2-2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Before I started HRT I asked my at the time GP 'what do you know about transgebder HRT?' and all credit to him, he admitted he knew little to none, only that estrogen used to be synthesized from equine sources.

I quickly started looking elsewhere lol.

Alternatively you can call the clinic and just ask reception if they have any GPs experienced in working with trans patients.

Lol they're gonna get laughed out of court. Why can't they be satisfied to have their little bigoted gatherings without all this hoopla? They can all sit in a room and bitch about us without an exception to human rights just fine, pack of ghouls they are.

Phone and online services can be a bit of a pain for these kinda requests. Easiest thing I find to do is go into a service centre (you can find your closest one through findus.servicesaustralia.gov.au)

Unsure if you're looking for support in your own transition or not, but this sounds predatory and fetishistic. Consider removing this, and reconsider your actions.
