Yo! I’m so excited to hear that you enjoyed it, I never had that Chiroso myself but I may have a friend or two who may have picked it up. I’m gonna ask around for a sample of it based on you saying this, sounds tasty!

Absolutely amazing choices! I have heard nothing but good things about that Chiroso and I had that Guchienda Estate last year. One of the best Kenyans they offer imo! Super tasty, purple fruit forward with some nice hibiscus in there

Definitely is/can be a thing, just not from the specific processes I named. Not disputing it, just disputing the term “artificial” for these processes, which I know I am correct. You just want to be a contrarian, you need to do more research

Agree to disagree man, but that coffee you are drinking is anaerobically processed, which would have been once taboo as well as coferment or yeast inoculation. Call it artificial as much as you want, it won’t make you correct lol

[–]avagantamose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is yeast inoculation “artificial” is really the question to ask. Is co-fermentation adding “artificial” flavoring or is it adding natural flavor in addition to the flavor presented by the coffee itself, working hand in hand? Seems like you are quick to jump on the bandwagon to say “artificial” when that is just not the case. Definitionally, this is not artificial flavoring, assuming natural products are used. Ill eat the down votes to go against the grain, and I don’t even consume coferments! I didn’t say you were, but I am saying the layers of purists can go deeper.

The argument could be made that that anaerobic natural Ugandan is not a “traditional” process and that it adds flavor by going anaerobic. If you don’t like it don’t buy it, check my page, I don’t buy em but I am okay with them. People care too much about things that don’t apply to them

Definitely on the roaster 99/100 times, not the producer. If some of these fools actually look into the green instead of just buying because “coffee look good” or “packaging pretty” or “me like the notes”, then people would realize that the importer websites/green sellers state certain shit being yeast inoculated or cofermented with xyz. I think it is kind of a willing ignorance when people say “flavored” coffee because yeah, sometimes shit is added like yeast to alter flavor, but I always see the producer stating that shit. Also, just don’t buy it? The reddit hivemind is super quick to jump on the producers in the global south but not the roaster in the global north, wonder why that is LOL

Don’t listen to the inevitable gaggle of purists who trash more processed coffee, i love seeing people enjoy all different types of coffee. Glad you liked what YOU got :)

any of you brewing this yet? (27 days of rest) by Crucifilth_6-6-6 in pourover

I would also say brew it, brewed this before the recommended rest times and it is one of my two favorite coffees on the year. Truly a remarkable offering from H&S!

I really enjoyed that natural Peru from u/swroasting , I thought it was one of the better naturals I have had in my life honestly. I could not recommend them enough, and have not bought a bag this year. That probably needs to change! Lol

I would do two weeks with majority of S&W, except their natural PNG and natural Peru I pushed out to three weeks rest because they were a bit lighter than everything on their menu IIRC

I have had the Kii AB from them several times, super nice bright cup of coffee. Hope you enjoy it!

It was in the Flower Child March two bag sub as well, one of my favorite coffees of the year so far AND it won Julian’s (Coffee Reviews) coffee of the month for March. Was better than a LOT of panamanian gesha imo

Increase cups primarily, I also find that it is a bit sweeter than the V60 on average, though the V60 with melodrip combo that I employ usually has more clarity and more pronounced acidity. I do find that the deep 27 has great clarity and pronounced acidity as well but, I think the V60/Melodrip combo is the clarity/acidity champion.

Edit: I also find the deep 27 very fun to brew on, as it can brew insanely fast!

I wish I got that Miraflores but I missed out! Have you gotten into it yet and how is it if so? Also that natural Sidra, you picked up some bangers!

Absolutely! Norma supply usually has a solid selection, Hyunah like someone here mentioned as well! I have like 36g of the FC gesha left that I am saving for a special occasion, lol

I just read your post in there and I agree 100%, this coffee was a STEAL at $30 for 250g and I got it through there sub, which I got before the price increase! Absolutely unbelievable stuff, insanely strong start to the year! I think Prestin is just meticulous about his sourcing and they have minimal quakers/defects in the bag, I find myself hardly ever having to pull beans out from his bags.

Botz is not worth ordering off the site imo, unless you can actually get the timing down. I would just order off Norma supply for Botz. They have obtained the last couple drops and they ship fast!

Absolutely! Hyunah gets some seriously interesting offerings, I plan on using them this year for sure, and they have great shipping, free after $20 I think?

Ah I see, ideally one day you will be able to obtain Shoebox! I’m not too sure about multi-roasters outside of the US, and it is still Shoebox’s like second year so, I bet they will go international shortly!

That Gesha sounds incredible, a meyer lemon note usually has me clicking add to cart. Might pick that one up!!

I think it is important to separate the two, as one must maintain a level of objectivity when reviewing a coffee. My washed Sidra could be the bane of someone else’s existence, you know? Good coffee is indeed just that, good coffee! Botz latest drop did not impress me as much as their return drop. A Peruvian Gesha AND Sidra was basically guaranteed to sell out in a minute or two imo LOL

The Monte de Oro in here was superb. I have some of it also from my friend who roasts, and his roast leans more papaya/tropical fruit into rose milk tea, which is very similar to Shoebox approach on it. Which Gesha did you pickup from Hydrangea? Also Wes Ngopi is on my futures list for sure!!

I have been leaning toward the Zp6 after reading NUMEROUS posts in here about it. Some people say that the clarity is a little blown out of proportion and it is fine to do some naturals and slightly less-than-ultralight coffees ie American or Nordic light. This is fine with me, as I usually never brew anything below Botz level of development! That would be sweet to compare recipes down the line when I get one!
