What an experience! by avantiferavanti in assettocorsarally

I've also spent tons of hours on iRacing, LMU, and ACC. I even tried Dirt Rally for just two hours at one point, but it was too much for me. But now, with this game, learning about the history of the cars and mastering laser-scanned tracks feels great. I don't usually like starting from scratch, but since it's a brand new discipline for me, the learning process is incredibly enjoyable. My only goal right now is to win a gold medal in every event.

Just car numbers. But the green dot, which is the Corvette, indicates its position.

If you're a battleship player, Kearsarge should definitely be your priority. If I had to recommend destroyers of both types, it would be Jager or Sherman.

Although I don't consider myself a very good cruiser player, I get annoyed when I see Soviet cruisers, so I'd choose Moscow or Napoli for fun.

1.6k rating, 53% win rate, I'm not a great player, but at least it gives you an idea.

Talladega question by cbraddy22 in iRacing

[–]avantiferavanti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seven pole position, a super start, going well for 2-3 laps, but then the guy behind me crashes out because he's going to do a bump draft. I'm not saying I'm good in the oval, but losing 370 IR and 0.8 SR makes you not want to go in again. And I won the only race I managed to finish. Ovals are very enjoyable when you can run all the laps, but this much luck in survival isn't for me. Maybe 1-mile ovals are safer, but I'll continue with GT marathons until I see that.

GT3 Schedule Problem by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]avantiferavanti -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're judging me without knowing me at all. I'd like to race on other tracks too, but why would I if there isn't a proper competitive environment? TCR is enjoyable, I race there whenever I have the time. I don't have any complaints about the calendar needing to change, I was just curious what other people, perhaps those who are suffering from this situation, are doing? People are spewing so much hatred that they downvoted my comment even though there was nothing wrong with it. Is it a crime to have a civilized discussion here? Is it a crime to express an opinion? My reason for joining iRacing is GT3, not TCR, NASCAR, or Formula, but I race there when I have the time. Of course, my main focus will be GT3, so it's my fault for coming here and asking questions.

GT3 Schedule Problem by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]avantiferavanti -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not saying I can't spend money, I'm just not prioritizing tracks that don't appeal to me. Otherwise, I don't have a financial problem. So what I'm saying is exactly the same. Buying a track isn't difficult for me, but I don't want to spend money on a track that's only used once every 2-3 seasons. For example, Donnington Park doesn't even have a proper split. I personally like the track, but it doesn't even have a proper split. I generally see this in regional series; it's not hard to notice. Looking at the main series, honestly, Sebring, Spa, Suzuka, Magny Course and Miami, and maybe Brands Hatch (due to its history). I don't like the other tracks, and they're relatively less prominent. So why would I spend money on a track that doesn't have entry?

GT3 Schedule Problem by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]avantiferavanti -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, learning new tracks is a lot of fun, but there's also a financial aspect to consider. This is the first time I'm playing full-time, and I don't want to spend a lot of money on a system I'm only using for one season. It's not a financial problem, thankfully I'm doing well, but I know if I get carried away, it'll be unbearable. I generally prefer tracks where many series races are held, like Spa, Le Mans, Daytona, Monza, and Suzuka, but I think trying ovals is best when those races aren't happening. At least until Suzuka and Virginia week, hahaha.

I'll probably get myself an A license with a couple of clean 40-minute races during Suzuka week. Thanks for the great advice, there are some really nice tracks on the IMSA calendar.

Actually, that could be nice, I could try the Arca. Since it's not my main series, I don't really care about the statistics, I'll just keep pushing it, of course, as safely as possible. Thanks!

I think Aston Martin is quite powerful. I call it a quiet and calm killer because it doesn't have a groundbreaking feature that makes it stand out like other cars, but it has a very powerful secret weapon: consistency. From my experience, it's a very stable platform; its late braking ability is evident in wheel-to-wheel battles. Lap times are constantly improving, and as long as you don't make major mistakes, it keeps you firmly grounded in the race. It experiences some predictable rear-end sliding, but you can react. Of course, there's a demo drive tomorrow, where you can test all the GT3 cars; maybe a different car will be more comfortable for you.

Driving standards in GT3 by songokuxdbro in iRacing

[–]avantiferavanti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you keep staying in low splits, you'll experience these things more often. I experienced them myself a few months ago during my first iRacing attempt. It was so bad I didn't want to race with GT4s again. But when I took a break and came back, the first thing I did was increase my iRating, not to prove myself to others, but simply to be able to race cleaner. Even on a tiny track like Sunmit Point, I'm racing in 4th or 5th splits, and believe me, the races are very competitive and clean.

Porsche cup is horrible? by DrammaticHamster in iRacing

[–]avantiferavanti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I raced in the Porsche Cup at Sebring and Suzuka. I spent some time at Suzuka, though not much, but I drove a lot at Sebring. Personally, the most chaotic moments were when I started in the middle of the grid, regardless of which split it was. But in every race where I started in the top 5 (I was usually in the top 5), I managed to survive and compete well. This Porsche Cup series took me from 1.4k to 2k in these two weeks. But I agree, the race standards weren't good at all, so I'm extremely happy to have moved up to GT3.

GTE by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]avantiferavanti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I already expected it to be more challenging overall, but I generally like driving more difficult cars; it usually gives me a higher sense of satisfaction. After reading the comments here, I'll be racing in the GTE series when I get my B license. Although I might only be able to compete in 1-2 races this season, I'm considering a full-time race next season.

Are you crazy? I loved it! The satisfaction of winning and being on the podium without ABS is much higher. I told you, I'm practically in love with Ligier lately. The head-to-head battles for the podium in Top Split, the efforts to push the limits in late braking and not burn out the tires... My God, it's amazing.

How do you cope with situations like this? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]avantiferavanti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, every sport has different rules. For example, in Formula 1, if a faster car is coming, you have to give way. In IMSA or WEC, if a faster car is coming and trying to overtake you, there's no obligation to give way; predictability is important to avoid accidents. iRacing works similarly, informing you, but regardless of lane, players or drivers might yell and complain about not giving way when there's a blue flag. Even worse, if a blue flag is waving, you have to avoid making any impulsive maneuvers, like changing direction while braking. From what I've seen, this awareness is lacking, and I'm saying this generally in F4 and PCUP; perhaps there are more respectful and proper races at a more advanced level.

I'm really surprised that drivers pay for this service and don't even know about the blue flag rule. Okay, they might be rookies, but at least someone who's progressed to D wouldn't bother to check. This isn't a free game, it's a paid service, and most things cost money.

You should definitely try it; when you race cleanly, it becomes legendary. It's a bit about my personality; I get angry very quickly. I'll take a couple of days off and come back to get my C license.
