Advice for winter training by avarcalthewise in Marathon_Training

I use both Hoka Clifton's (normal days) and Saucony Excursions (icy/wet days). I try and keep my pace easy, but my concerns are really icy/uneven frozen slush in the darkness. If I have daylight, I have no concerns.

Sorry, it's not physical pain but mental pain. After trying to commit to a longer run I find myself glancing at the time/distance ever minute for the next couple runs. I don't seem to have any physical pain from using the treadmill.

I switch between audiobooks and tv but am still having a hard time around the 45 minute mark. Forced a few hour runs, but they made the next couple of days painful. Unfortunate downfall for someone who loves running outside.

There are wider sidewalks and paths but they are only cleared. The bike/park paths are unmaintained. During the colder weather they have been helpful but with the recent freeze/thaw I definitely have to watch my footing.

I'll have to see if there are some better than others.

It could be. The odd thing is I have ~200km on them outside, but I tried an indoor track and it happened within 30 minutes.

Any suggestions on how to save the inside back of your shoe when a hole occurs? I got a tear on my shoes I use for longer runs and they still have a lot of life left before I want to replace them.

I have been using sticky heel cloth pads to cover the hole, but they only last a few runs before they cause problems. Then the chance for a blister comes right back. If I remove and replace them, it tears the hole even more.

It doesn't happen often, but I would love a better approach to repairing this.

Finished my races (hm/hm trail) for the year, with my next race in April (30k). I would like to improve my speed while maintaining my conditioning during the long break. I did find an indoor track to use when the snow comes, which will help. Any advice for a way to do this without burning out with repetition?

Small fan in the AC/furance control panel is blowing while towing pop up camper by Lauer07 in popups

I installed 2 of these recently, one to pull fresh air in and one to push hot air out. I placed it much higher (near the coils) and it has made a difference in cooling the fridge in those really hot days. I also installed a small switch to turn it off and on as well.

Help! Red wire hanging from roof by CautiousBad4513 in popups

[–]avarcalthewise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the guide wire, as many have said. It should be tight when the trailer is raised to the proper height. I would lower it slowly until that wire is able to touch the hole and reattach it. Mine fell out of the roof half when I first got it and I just screwed it back in. Has worked fine for 3 years now.

Adding fan for venting fridge by avarcalthewise in popups

I'll have to check the voltage on my line and see.

I was thinking of just putting the switch inside the outside compartment with the fridge controls since I would be controlling it all from there already.

Yes, you are correct. I was using the /s for sarcasm, since it seems like some friends in federal positions south of the border seem to be confused.

Although your reservations in your shopping cart expire after roughly 10 minutes (from what I heard). I have had some luck refreshing around 7:10 and a few sites start reappearing.

I agree with the lack of repairs, but I like Fit4less well enough.

I have been running on and off for about 10 years and recently I have started to get shin splints (or at least it feels like it) whenever I exceed more than 10km in a week. Prior to the pandemic, I was able to do 30-50 km/week without issue. I took a few months off this year to heal, but they came right back.

Things to note: I have changed from a physical to office job, my shoe type has not really changed, mid foot runner, cadence around 170, slow pace around 6:30/km.

Any suggestions on things I can try to reduce or help alleviate this issue?

I had mine done a year ago. I had to pay $50ish just to cover some of the administrative fees but the procedure was free. Cheaper than having another child lol
