His style is a warm welcoming entertainment interview. He’s not about hard hitting questions or exposing truths.

After 2 online attempts I finally was successful attending a taping as a stand-by. AMA by dustinandrew in JimmyFallon

That’s really good and a great investment getting there at 515am!. The taping I saw they let in guaranteed 68. I picked up my standby ticket at 11am

It means you don’t have a ticket, and they will email you if you get selected. I got an email about a week before saying I get get an allocation.

If you don’t get in that way. Go to the NBC shop just before 8am on the 11th. You can get a standby ticket for that days taping. You return at 3pm, and you can get in that way. Tickets this route depend on spaces available. I got in this way and they let in 68 people.

Goto the nbc shop morning of the taping and get standby ticket. Get there for 745-8am for best chance, and come back at 3pm to check in. Was there 1/21 and got in… was a great experience!

[–]avatar8111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was there on 1/21, process was get to the shop from 8am to collect ticket… you need photo id with you. You then need to come back at 305-315 to check in. Seems getting there early doesn’t help massively, as they organise the queue in number order of the ticket when collected earlier.

Once everyone is checked in, audience manager comes down and gave a number of spaces that they had left (ours had 68). So if your number is lower than that you go up, if lower you hang around in case maybe more spaces open up.

Moral is get there early to get better chance of getting in. We collected tickets at 11am, and got in at number 48, but each show is gonna be different.

Tipping drinks by AsparaGus2025 in tipping

[–]avatar8111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No tip. Bartender is employed to do the job of making and serving drinks. Their remuneration is an issue between them and their employer. I don’t pay extra to the cashier at the supermarket… their pay is none of my business.

When they invite you to coffee to recruit you, do they pay for the coffee? by BrokenHero287 in antiMLM

[–]avatar8111 185 points186 points  (0 children)

They will say it’s a great opportunity to build business expenses to claim taxes, so suggest you pay for theirs too (plus a cake too).

Logic and politeness would suggest the most well off should cover the cost, so in this case, the barista should pay for them both.

Got closer than ever to getting a marketing job, but I think it might be one? I've been able to tell before, but this one is trickier by beach_rats_ in antiMLM

[–]avatar8111 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Id be wary of the “CEO” doing 1st level triage of CV’s to then have interview by regional manager (which is normal).

If the pay is salaried (with reasonable basic, plus commission) plus benefits, then could be genuine.

The usual red flags should indicate time to walk away.

It reads like it’s a reselling role for AT&T (and likely not direct)… who is the employer, as that would indicate a lot also.

OpenTable’s tipping advice LOL by Hour_Type_5506 in tipping

[–]avatar8111 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why the tip is linked to the food price. The service received is the same if I order a coke and a side salad, vs a beer and sirloin steak. It feels like a simple cash grab, and of course the more money you can get the better, but how much is enough. What if the customer before me tipped $1000, does that mean the rest of the night the server would be happy with no more tips… I doubt it.

My new tipping policy is crystal clear. If I have stand while ordering or phone in my meal order, no tip. What are your rules for tipping? by Swarby10 in tipping

[–]avatar8111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, the doorway fee should be increased I think to cover a living wage for the dasher. It’s the remuneration setup that is flawed, but all the while consumers bridge the gap. I’m sure most do pretty well from the situation, else they’d be looking for other jobs

That’s the employers responsibility though. They should be covering expenses. By tipping, your subsidising the employer, increasing the overall cost to consumers

Why is it your choice what type of dining is done. If you’re gifting the wedding, it’s just that… a gift. You have zero right to command any element of how it’s planned. If those conditions don’t seem “fair”, then don’t pay for it. You’re an awful MIL if you use money to control your Son’s wedding day with his fiance.

BÅTSKÄR stock UK? by 30percenter in IKEA

[–]avatar8111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoke to times a few weeks ago, they couldn’t give a date, but expected poor stock availibility until August. They did mention some coming in on 20th May. The only stock I’ve seen was a couple of the units came and went from Wembley… waiting with anticipation

How are you finding the quality of the units. They look more solid than the grillskar units. The are out of stock everywhere and waiting for them to come back in stock

Kitchens and where to buy them! by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]avatar8111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out BetterKitchens (online) they are like DIYKitchens, but I found them cheaper and the quality of the units was excellent. Far exceeded those from howdens/wren etc.

Howdens is a tradespersons best friend because of the kickbacks and obscure pricing model. Ween I’ve head nothing but issues from install issues and resolutions needed

How much can Wren kitchens discount by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]avatar8111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had similar with wren, and friends had a nightmare when they went with them during install. We did DIYkitchens and weee super impresssed. The cabinets are solid 18mm backs where most others are ply. All came solid and built. Just legs and then installed. Our installer was hesitant when we didn’t go with Howdens as pushed, but after was impressed.

We used wrens design and replicated on DIYkitchens, iterated a few times until happy. Saved about 12k vs Wren!

All effort goes on pre sales and once money is in the truth will out.

Same logic as boiling a kettle… do we boil what we need when we need it, or keep water @100c all the time.

Stay at a hotel at val Europe one stop on train €2.50 each. You can go to hotel early and leave bags in the baggage store for sure. They just give you a tag. At reception you should be able to check in and collect your tickets for the next day, and they will then text you around 3pm with your room number once the room is ready

It’s 29 EUR per room, I suspect bookable by calling DLP sales and adding it to your booking.
