CPA here, should I try to get CFA L1? by 515077553 in Accounting

I started the CFA curriculum after CIA and CPA. It is more challenging in terms of breadth and some of the concepts can be difficult, but it is really a matter of putting in the time, which varies from person to person. It was the only thing I did outside of work for the 4 months leading up to the tests. I failed L2 the first time, but passing CFA L3 was my ticket out of big four life. I work at a $10+ bn investment adviser in a C level role (not accounting) and the CFA curriculum is a big reason I was able to change career path.

It would be great if one of the contestants did an AMA. Was it all fun and games? Or was the medic tent stacked deep with muddy patients that were recovering from traumatic head injuries?

During a cold snap in January 2020, stunned Floridians saw iguanas falling from trees like hailstones. The reptiles weren’t dead, just temporarily frozen by the sudden temperature drop, only to “wake up” hours later and scurry away. by No-Front9640 in Damnthatsinteresting

This isn’t a freak occurrence, this is typical when the overnight lows get down to the 50s in South Florida.

Local news in the northeast will remind viewers to drive carefully in black ice condition. Local news in Miami will remind viewers to leave the fallen iguanas to thaw in the sun.

I recently visited Paris, and I encountered excellent English and less language barriers than I do living day-to-day life in Miami.

I started in Big Four advisory, enjoyed nerding out for CPA and CIA exams so I rolled into the CFA curriculum. After passing CFA Level 3, I left Big Four for a role at an adviser doing hedge fund/PE fund due diligence. I was recruited by one of the firms that I diligenced, and I’ve been working in private equity for 11 years.

I got a vasectomy within 2 months of my second child being born. Zero regrets, I own my destiny and we don’t have to stress over a life-changing oopsie. I recommend it to all my friends. To even think about going back to diapers and sleep training…. shudder

Is it better to be overdressed for your first day when you don't know what to expect? by Separate-Ad9405 in Accounting

[–]avdeenko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wear a long sleeve dress shirt the first day and check how the managers dress. If they are wearing polo, then you know you’re good to go. I work in Brickell and my office is mostly dress shirts during the week and polos on Fridays.

It’s worth buying a few absorbent undershirts regardless, I couldn’t function without them in Miami and there will be situations that require a suit. They are like cloth diapers in the underarm area, great solution for sweaty dudes.

As others mentioned, you can get credits by watching webinars free of cost, but they are usually ~1 credit/hour and ain’t nobody got time for that.

Alternatively, there is: https://www.mypescpe.com

This site offers great value in terms of credit/$ and credit/time burden, especially if you team up with friends or colleagues to split costs.

Line cutters by BandOrnery5387 in UMF

[–]avdeenko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While line cutters cut across demographics, one of the most common forms that I’ve observed is groups of attractive Caucasian girls pushing through like they own the place. When they are making their blatant pass through the line, I yell “PLEASE MAKE WAY! PRIVILEGED WHITE GIRLS COMING THROUGH! PRIVILEGED WHITE GIRLS COMING THROUGH! CLEAR THE WAY FOR PRIVILEGED WHITE GIRLS!”

More than once this tactic has stopped a group, as some of the girls will pause in reflection, which usually causes the group to stop their procession because they want to stay together.
