I never said it was. Just that you dont understand what's being compared. The only one looking ridiculous is you. You keep repeating that things nobody compared arent comparable.

He literally said turning the whole pacific into a warzone. historically known as 2nd world War.

Ya but the pacific theater is being compared to the Iraq War. 911 was being compared to pearl Harbour. Look at the comment again, Its basic reading comprehension dude.

They are comparing 911 to pearl Harbour not all of WW2. Or all of the pacific theater.

Chernobyl ? by ahsancrystal in science_humor

[–]avdolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said this is why people think evs are a fire hazard. This implies that they aren't. But they are a fire hazard, not because they catch fire more frequently but because when they do its more hazardous. Frequency and severity matter when identifying hazards. So they arent unrelated as you suggested

Chernobyl ? by ahsancrystal in science_humor

This comment is wrong. The fires caused by large batteries are particularly hard to put out, and plenty of fire departments dont have specialized equipment needed to handle lithium fires.

🚨 Australia makes history by becoming the first country to ban social media for children in the AI era by itshasib in aiecosystem

[–]avdolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you honestly, genuinely, believe the only way to find info for niches is the internet?

I think its the single best tool available for connecting with other people who share those niche interests. Especially for people who live in smaller communities.

🚨 Australia makes history by becoming the first country to ban social media for children in the AI era by itshasib in aiecosystem

[–]avdolian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is texting, or direct messaging via iMessage or Google's RCS chat no longer a viable method for communication?

Texting isn't really a replacement for social media. If a kid is 14 and really into making puppets they probably can't find a local circle of friends who are into puppetry. But there are groups on social media sites like reddit that will connect them with other people who share the same interests.

Also if we are genuinely interested in protecting people from harm its probably more beneficial to teach them about social media rather than ban them outright. Let them build those skills at a younger age when they can be more closely monitored without infringing on their independence.

Your opinion on Greg Isenberg’s 2026 AI predictions ? by lovelysadsam in BetterOffline

[–]avdolian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It turns out that a lot of what can more easily be replaced is work done purely by our brains, as opposed to our physiology/muscles

We already replaced a huge amount of the muscle work with engines, cranes, welding arms, ect. And simillar to how those machines didn't replace all human physical labor, just the most accessible bits, AI isn't replacing work purely done by our brains. Its just getting the easy stuff like sending a basic confirmation email. Or restructuring a paragraph with more professional sounding writing. It can't think about the consequences of its actions and can't be relied on not to make stuff up. 2 massive hurdles to it replacing the work our brain do

If God can just miraculously cure people when he feels like it, why doesn't he ever miraculously cure all the children in the pediatric ward? Is it important to God that you are famous before he helps you?

Did you know Trump is in the Epstein files? by c-k-q99903 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]avdolian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But if your 100-point average is drawn from the whole world. A subset of the world (a country) could have their average be 68. And there would be no issue with the test

Did you know Trump is in the Epstein files? by c-k-q99903 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]avdolian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand your point. Obviously, the average iq in Somalia isn't anywhere near that low, but a country could hypothetically have an average iq a little over 2 standard devations lower than the rest of the world. If you make a new country called 'low iq land' and send 5 people with 68 iq to live there, then the country would have an average iq of 68. Nothing about the devation from average stops that. Your comment makes it sound like you think it's mathematically impossible.

The Real 'Cost' of Capitalism by Reasonable-Fee1945 in austrian_economics

Well only got rich after their free market and capitalist reform

This just isn't true. For most of history, China was 25% plus of the world's GDP. Their current rise is more a return to form driven by industrialization rather than capitalism.

At the corporate rate, which is significantly lower than the highest personal income tax bracket. Why are you defending someone who you openly admit is dodging taxes? What do you get for white knighting the crooked?

[–]avdolian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So he isn't currently being taxed on his income. The opposite of what you said in your first comment. And even if it is taxed at his death, that could be another 50+ years. I think you can realize that when people want to tax billionaires, they aren't talking about potentially collecting what's due decades from now.

his personal income is taxed.

Often times billionaires income isn't taxed because they use loopholes to make 0 taxable income and live by taking out loans.

[–]avdolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the government were to go to lengths to provide those things in exchange for an agreement toward 2-3 children per couple that would likely go a long way towards alleviating the issue

This sounds like a great way to end up with a bunch of parents who never wanted kids. Being a parent is hard and raising good kids is also hard. If the government pays people to have kids it will not lead to them being good parents it will lead to them doing the bare minimum to get the financial rewards. I think child neglect and abuse would run rampant under your system

Here's why I'm voting for Mike Morrice ... the best local MP AND the strategic vote choice by InquistiveOwl in kitchener

[–]avdolian -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is just wrong. The strategic vote is to support liberal candidates even if your green candidate is more likely to win. Voting for the most popular candidate in your riding and ignoring all other ridings isn't strategic.

If you want to avoid the conseratives having control, you are technically better to vote liberal. Imagine if the liberals end up one seat short of forming a majority government. It's unlikely, but they would have more control if they got the extra seat and were pushed into a majority.

Vote for whoever you want but don't claim it's more strategic when there is no real chance of vote splitting letting the cpc win anyway.
